> CASTING NEEDS ‹ ALL ROLES OPEN
> EFFIE WHITE (gospel belt):  Full-figured and very talented lead singer of the
> Dreamettes, a hopeful girl group.  In love with Curtis.
> DEENA JONES (mezzo):  Young, thin and beautiful original member of the
> Dreamettes, later renamed Deena Jones and the Dreams.
> LORRELL ROBINSON (soprano):  Original member of the Dreamettes, who has a
> difficult relationship with James.
> CURTIS TAYLOR, JR. (tenor): Used-car salesman, who becomes the Dreams¹
> manager.  Marries Deena.
> JAMES ³THUNDER² EARLY (tenor):  Popular James Brown-like R&B star, who takes
> on the Dreamettes as his opening act..
> C. C. WHITE (tenor):  Effie¹s brother and aspiring songwriter.  In love with
> Michelle.
> MICHELLE MORRIS (high belt):  Effie¹s replacement in Deena Jones and the
> Dreams.
> MARTY MADISON (baritone): James Early¹s manager and veteran music agent.
> Ensemble members:  Must sing and dance well.
> Cain Park is committed to non-traditional casting.  Actors will be cast solely
> on the basis of talent, except in cases where age, race or physical ability
> are essential to a role.
> 
> AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
> 1. 18 years of age and older
> 2. Memorize/prepare 2 short songs in the style of DREAMGIRLS
> 3. Bring sheet music in the proper key (accompanist is provided).  NO TAPED
> MUSIC ALLOWED.  Please note...you will not be allowed to audition without
> sheet music. 
> 4. Bring your current resume and a current photo which will be retained by
> Cain Park
> 5. Check your calendar for any conflicts before auditioning (see performance
> and rehearsal dates above)
> 
> COMPENSATION
> There are salaried AEA contracts available and EMC (Equity Membership
> Candidate) credit will be granted.  All Non-Equity actors appear in Cain Park
> productions on a volunteer basis.  Non-Equity actors cast in the production
> may be eligible for a performance internship.  Call 216-291-5796 for details
