RE:      Educational Acting Opportunity at Hale Farm and Village

We are currently seeking *volunteer actors of all ethnicities, Grades 4 – Adult,
to portray dramatic roles for our upcoming scripted educational program:  A
Fugitive’s Path: Escape on the Underground Railroad being held at Hale Farm and
Village in Bath, Ohio.

In addition to learning more behind the history of The Underground Railroad,
some actors will find themselves with the opportunity, as an abolitionist, to
befriend and assist “slaves” on their journey towards freedom, while other
actors may portray the role of an escaped slave, or even a slave catcher.

The schedule for “A Fugitive’s Path:  Escape on the Underground Railroad” for
2011 is as follows:

February 22 – 25, daytime
                        February 25 – 26, evening

                        March 1 – 4, 7 – 10, 22 – 25, 28 – 31, daytime
                        March 4 – 5, 25 – 26, evening

                        April 1, 4 – 8, 11 – 15, daytime
                        April 1 – 2, 8 – 9, 15 – 16, evening

We understand our student actors are unable to miss several weeks of school.
Last year, our student actors “shared” a role and chose one day a week to
perform, and some students also performed during the evening program.
Depending on the school groups scheduled for the day, actors typically arrive at
Hale Farm and Village at 8:00a.m. and are finished by 2:00p.m..  During the
evening program, actors can typically expect to arrive by 5:00p.m. and are
finished by 10:00p.m..

The Underground Railroad Program is a wonderful educational opportunity, where
both the actors and individuals in attendance leave with an appreciation of our
freedom, and a deeper understanding of the events which ultimately led to the
American Civil War.

Please contact Lisa Leaman, Hale Farm and VillageEducation Program Manager at
lleaman at wrhs.org  or  330.666.3711, ext 230 for additional information.

*Actors who are able and willing to work all or most program dates may be
compensated.
