Avon Lake is Alive With The Sound of Music
AVON LAKE, Ohio (February 7, 2011) – The Sound of Music has captured the hearts of audiences of all ages since its beginning as a Broadway hit in 1959. Mighty Goliath Productions is proud to present this uplifting story of love, family, and courage at the Daniel B. Ross Performing Arts Center at Avon Lake High School February 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, & 19th.
The Sound of Music is a classic and endearing musical based on the true story of Maria Rainer, a spirited young postulant, who was sent to serve as a governess for Captain Von Trapp, a widower with seven children. Rodgers and Hammerstein's inspirational musical features favorites such as "Climb Every Mountain", "Edelweiss", "My Favorite
Things", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and, of course, "The Sound of Music".
Playing the role of Maria Rainer will be MGP veteran Beth Whittington Van Horn. Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Ray Ewers will reprise his signature role of Captain von Trapp. Attorney Douglas Brill will play the role of Max while Colleen Kane plays the elegant role of Elsa. Tia Karaplis, Jenna Stack, Anna Renkel, Jacob Ingrassia, Brandon Schumacker, Lily Kozub, and Isabela Moner play the von Trapp children.
The Sound of Music is directed by Casey Wolnowski and produced by Lynn Maslinski and Fiona Walker. The music is under the direction of Lorene Coughlin and the orchestra is under the direction of Jim Lucas. Michelle Sabol is the choreographer.
Performances will take place on February 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th at 8 p.m. A matinee will be performed on February 13th at 2:00 p.m. A dinner option is available with additional entertainment by Debra Rose and Lorene Coughlin on Saturday, February 12th for an extra $15. Performances will take place at the Daniel B. Ross Performing Arts Center at Avon Lake High School. Tickets purchased in advance are only $10.00! Tickets purchased at the door are $15 for adults and $11 for students and seniors. The deadline to purchase tickets for the dinner on the 12th is February 8th.
