[NEohioPAL] BECK'S "Hairspray" Auditions on Feb. 20/21

Auditions for the Beck Center  summer production of "Hairspray" will take 
place on Sunday, February 20th and Monday, February  21st.
 
Appointments are now being taken for both evenings  beginning at 6PM. To  
make your appointment call the Beck Center box office  at 216-521-2540 x10.
 
Run dates for "Hairspray" will be July 8th  thru August 14th. Performances 
are Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday  afternoons only.
 
Except for the role of Edna Turnblad (played by  Kevin Joseph Kelly) all 
roles are open! For this production we are seeking  actor/singer/dancers who 
can play 16 and older. No actors under 14 will be  seen.
 
This is a terrific show in terms of the breadth of  roles! Throngs of young 
characters, great opportunities for character actors 30  thru 60, wonderful 
dance opportunities, and strong roles for black performers,  as the plot 
revolves around themes on integration in 1960's Baltimore. For more

Both Equity and Non-Equity actors will be seen. As  many as two AEA 
contracts will be offered. All non-equity actors 18 years  and older will receive a 
small stipend for their participation. 
 
Rehearsals are expected to begin in late  May.
 
Please prepare one brief (45 to 60 second) musical  selection from the 
Broadway repertoire that shows off your range. Dancing will  occur during 
callbacks. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring music in  your key. A 
capella singing is highly discouraged.
