*SOLON CENTER FOR THE ARTS ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS OF THE
3rd ANNUAL SCA PLAYWRITING COMPETITION*



Solon Center for the Arts is proud to announce the winners of the 3rd Annual
SCA Playwriting Competition. This competition presented student’s, grades 7
- 12, with the opportunity to submit original pieces of drama to be
considered for potential production at SCA in the spring of 2011. Judges
Kristina Ferencie, Bob Abelman and Larry Nehring have selected a first,
second and third place winner in addition to an honorable mention. The
winners are as follows:



   - First Place: “Man Down; A Coming of Age Tale” by Hannah Leach of Solon
   - Second Place: “Famous…Well, Almost” by Annie Roman of Chagrin Falls
   - Third Place: “The Rejects” by Alex Lohiser of Solon
   - Honorable Mention: “Vamped Out” by Alexandria Moore of Mentor



“Man Down”, “Famous” and “The Rejects” will be presented this May in the SCA
One Act Festival directed by Mr. Dusten Welch. SCA Spotlight Youth Theater
students (grades 5 - 8) will perform each piece in its entirety and will
present an excerpt from the honorable mention play, “Vamped Out”.



            SCA’s One Act Festival will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at
7:30 pm in the Calvetta Bros. Floor Show Theater at Solon Center for the
Arts. Tickets are $5.00 and can be reserved by calling (440) 337-1400.
