Auditions for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
at The Players Guild Theatre
Theatre Seeks Talented Singers/Dancers/Actors for Rock Musical!
 
Players Guild Theatre of Canton announces open auditions for the rock musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice.  The production will be directed by Michael Dempsey, with musical direction by Steve Parsons and choreography by Michael Lawrence Akers.
 
ALL ROLES ARE OPEN.  Open auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 8 and Wednesday, March 9 at 7:00 pm at The Players Guild Theatre, located at 1001 Market Ave N, Canton, OH  44702.  Callbacks will be Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 pm.  
 
The show runs April 15 -   May 8.   Please note that rehearsals will begin immediately on Monday, March 14!
 
Individuals wishing to audition should prepare a one-minute vocal selection and provide sheet music in their key.  They should also wear suitable clothing for moving and dancing.   Actors who are called back will be asked to sing from the score.  
 
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is an energetic rock musical that chronicles the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth as seen through the eyes of his disciple, Judas Iscariot.  Jesus Christ Superstar singlehandedly changed the face of musical theater and has kept audiences captivated since 1971.

Michael Dempsey (Director): Michael has written, acted and directed in theater, television and film for almost three decades in New York, Los Angeles, Cleveland and across the country.  Michael wrote for network television in the 90s, notably CBS’s Cybill starring Cybill Shepherd.  His plays have been produced in New York, LA, regionally in theaters such as Actors Theatre of Louisville.  Recent local directing efforts include Into The Woods at Salem Community Theatre, Curtains and Macbeth at the Youngstown Playhouse (both of which were in the Youngstown Vindicator's Theatre "Top 10 List" for 2010) and I Am My Own Wife at the Oakland Center for the Arts in Youngstown.
