Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio seeks to add to its roster of over 100
individual performing, literary and visual artists and ensembles. All Young
Audiences teaching artists are selected based on both their artistic skills
and their ability to communicate effectively with students and teachers in
the classroom. Our teaching artists offer a range of interactive and
experiential programs that engage students in all arts disciplines and
across the curriculum.  

 

Position Description: 

Hired as independent contractors, Young Audiences teaching artists develop
and implement standards-based assembly programs, residencies and/or
workshops for children and teachers throughout 18 counties in Northeast
Ohio.  Additional time may be required for meetings, planning sessions or
program development.  Preference will be given to applicants with prior
teaching experience; knowledge of Ohio Academic Content Standards in the
arts and other core subject areas (English Language Arts, social studies,
science and math); flexibility to customize programs to meet organizational
needs;  and the desire to participate in professional development in the
Young Audiences Signature Core Services, an inquiry-based model for program
design based upon; experiencing the arts, understanding in the arts,
creating in the arts, and connecting the arts across the curriculum.  We are
seeking professional artists who can provide performances and workshops in
all art forms but are especially those working in the following areas:

 

Music 

Hip Hop Music, Dance or Poetry

Theater 

Digital Media Arts

Graphic Animation Arts

African Dance

Programs focused on the history and art forms of a particular culture

Math/Science

 

Qualifications:

Demonstrated high level of proficiency in an indentified art form

Demonstrated skill in managing arts programs in a school or educational
setting

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Flexible scheduling availability

Application and all materials should be submitted to Young Audiences.
Potential candidates will be contacted for an interview.  Detailed
application instructions are provided on the Young Audiences website.
Selected artists will need to audition and then pass a Background Check.
