Spring Workshops 2011

The Spring Project 2011:  Gleek-ness!


For the student who is interested in developing the skills and techniques needed to succeed in the highly competitive world of musical theatre. Our work will combine contemporary music with a variety of songs from classic and contemporary musical theatre to create a theatrical showcase incorporating dance, music and acting. Students will be taught to identify their own best warm-up practices, physical & vocal.

 
Who:       Junior high and high school students (ages 12 – 18)

When:            Saturday, March 19th, 9AM – 2PM

Where:            McBride Auditorium, Firelands College

Cost:            $50 ($40 early registration by March 8th).

Class Size: Limited to 24 students.

 

The Spring Project 2011:  The Puppet Master!*


Part One: Creation. Each student will work with professional puppetry artists to produce their very own “Muppet” style mouth puppet. Supplies provided.

Part Two: Life. Each student will develop a distinct character for their individual puppet including personality, voice and movement. The students will sharpen their puppetry skills by working together to recreate well-known fairy tale stories in a puppet-theatre setting.

Who:            Students ages 10 – 16

When:            Saturdays, March 26 and April 2, 9AM – 12PM (must attend both sessions)

Where:            McBride Auditorium, Firelands College

Cost:            $90 ($75 early registration by March 8th).

Class Size: Limited to 20 students.

*This workshop coincides with the CCCT Fall production of “Dr. Dolittle.”

 


The Spring Project 2011: The Disney Experience!


The class for students who want to have what it takes to make the world’s most beloved material soar! Using scenes and songs from the Disney repertoire, this class will focus on the fundamentals of acting, stage movement, character development, and vocal flexibility by experiencing a variety of acting styles and methods. Using music and scenes from Disney fims and musicals throughout the years, students will hone their performance skills and develop an appreciation for the simplistic art of story telling so prominent in the world of Disney.

Who:            Students ages 10 – 16

When:            Saturday, April 9h, 9AM – 2PM

Where:            McBride Auditorium, Firelands College

Cost:            $50 ($40 early registration by March 8th).

Class Size: Limited to 22 students.

 

 

The Spring Project 2011:  Musical Theatre Jam Intensive! (by audition only)


This audition intensive workshop is for the student who wishes to take the next step in honing the skills and techniques needed to succeed in the highly competitive world of musical theatre. Using both contemporary and classic Broadway material, students will be taught healthy vocal/singing production, dance combinations and a deeper understanding of character development, while learning to seamlessly combine these disciplines.
