March25, 2011 – Cleveland, Ohio – The Greene/MedcalfMovement Project (The Project) will presents its first formal dance concertentitled A Spring Fling Thing, Anevening of live music and dance.  Thisperform will also serve as a benefit for the newly formed company and willfeature music by classical guitarist Robert Sharpe, Jazz vocalist Reggie Kellyand the band Hubb’s Groove. 
 
The Projectwill perform Co-Director Terence Greene’s Reflection of, a duet that the PlainDealer’s Doug Rosenberg calls “fierce and tender.”  This duet is performed to Donny Hathaway’s Asong for you.  For this performance itwill be sung live by Mr. Reggie Kelly. Co-Director Michael Medcalf has choreographed and will perform a newdance work to Nicolo Paganini’s Romanza and will be accompanied live byclassical guitarist Robert Sharpe. Additionally, The Project willcollaborate with Reggie Kelly and Hubb’s Groove on a “in the moment” inspireddance work crafted especially for this performance. Interspersed between dancesthe musical guest artist will be performing selections of their choosing.

The performance will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Theatre Spacelocated inside the West Tech Lofts at 2201 West 93rd  Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44102.  Performancestarts at 7:30pm.  Ticket prices rangefrom $20 to $50.
 
Theevening will start with a VIP reception from 6:15pm-7:30pm for patrons whopurchase the $50 VIP/Benefit ticket.  Theprice of this ticket will include hors d’oeuvers and an open wine bar.  A portion of the VIP/Benefit ticket will betax deductible. The general admission ticket price is $20.  The performance starts at 7:30pm.

About The Greene/Medcalf Movement Project
The Greene/Medcalf MovementProject, founded by award-winning directors, dancers, choreographers,instructors and Cleveland natives Terence Greene and Michael Medcalf strives tocreate, commission and perform new and thought provoking contemporary solos andduets that aims to push the boundaries of what dance can and is thought tobe.  Long time friends since they weredance students in high school at the Cleveland School of the Arts, both theirfriendship and professional dance careers spans over 20 years. The two decidedto join forces as choreographers and performers in the summer of 2010 to createa duet for their high school reunion and from there the project waslaunched.  
 
As dancers they haveperformed on stages and opera houses on every continent and have worked withchoreographers ranging from Bill T. Jones to Katherine Dunham, from Ronald K.Brown to Dianne McIntyre, from Talley Beatty to Donald McKayle. Theirprofessional careers as dancers are highlighted as company members of TheDayton Contemporary Dance Company and the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensembleamongst a plethora of other national and regional dance companies.
 
As choreographers theirmovement styles have been described by the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Doug Rosenbergas “vibrant in emotional layering…fierceand tender interplay…elegant elasticity…noble grace”.  Since arriving on the scene as a duo, the twohave performed as guest artists in concert with Cleveland’s Verb Ballets, inLos Angeles as a member company at 23rd International Blacks inDance Conference and has been selected to perform at the Contemporary DanceTheater’s Area Choreographer’s Showcase in Cincinnati and as a part ofCleveland Public Theatre’s Danceworks 2011.
 
Currently, both Greene andMedcalf reside in Cleveland, Ohioand work in the dance department at their Alma Mata Cleveland Schoolof the Arts, Greene as the head consultant for the dance department and Medcalfas an artist in residence.
 
About Co-directorTerence Greene
Native Clevelander andgraduate of Cleveland School of the Arts, Mr. Greene has studied at theAmerican Dance Festival (ADF), the Cleveland Ballet, the Dayton Ballet, theKaramu House, the Chuck Davis Dance Theater, and the prestige Alvin AileyAmerican Dance Center in New York City under the tutelage of master teacherssuch as Linda Thomas Jones, Joan Peters, Hope Clark, Donald McKayle, UlyssesDove, Mike Malone, Jeraldyne Blunden, Kevin Ward, Walter Raines, James Truitte,Dawn Wood, Donald Byrd and Pearl Primus, and Reggie Kelly amongst others.
 
For ten years Mr. Greeneperformed as a soloist and principal dancer with the internationally acclaimedDayton Contemporary Dance Company.  While with DCDC he was blessed to work with such noted choreographers asEleo Pomare, Ronald K. Brown, Debbie Blunden-Diggs, Talley Beatty, Shapiro andSmith, Dwight Rhoden, Kevin Ward, Donald McKayle, Donald Byrd and many more.
 
As a professional dancer, Mr.Greene has also performed in a number of national touring productions such asDream Girls, Jesus Christ Superstar, Black Nativity, Show Boat, The MerryWidow, and Carousel.   Locally, Mr.Greene has performed in Opera Cleveland’s La Traviata and A Little Night Musicand Comedy of Errors with Great Lakes Theater Festival.
 
Combining a love forchoreography and teaching young people, Mr. Greene has worked with ClevelandSchool of the Arts Dance Department, Cleveland Metropolitan School District’sAll City Dance Ensemble, The Colonel White School of Performing Arts, TheWittenberg Dance Ensemble, Howard University’s Children’s Theater, PurdueUniversity, Valencia College, South Dayton Dance Theater, International BlacksIn Dance Conference, Cleo Parker Robinson Summer Intensive, Dayton ContemporaryDance Company, Jeraldeen School Of The Dance, The American Dance Festival,Ballet Tech, The Ballet Performing Arts Association, as well as Folk DanceFestivals in China, Korea, Russia, Poland, and Germany.
 
Mr. Greene is the formerDirector of Liturgical Dance at Omega Baptist Churchand Associate Artistic Director of Dance Xpressions Dance Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Mr. Greene is a three time MontgomeryCounty (of Ohio)Arts Fellowship Award recipient.  In 1999Mr. Greene completed his 10th and last season with DaytonContemporary Dance Company and in that same year, received the Josie Award forbest male dancer in Ohio.In 2010, he was the recipient of the Alumni Award for excellence in his fieldfrom the Cleveland School of the Arts.  
 
Currently, Mr. Greene is theHead Consultant for the Dance Department at Cleveland Schoolof the Arts and the Artistic Director for the Urban Dance Collective.  Additionally, he is the Artistic Director ofMt. Zion Liturgical Dancers, under the leadership of pastor Ronald C. Williams.  
 
Mr. Greene is the recipientof the Alumni Wall of Fame and the Star Award for Excellence in his field fromthe Cleveland School of the Arts.  Recently Mr. Greene was appointed residentchoreographer for Clevelandbased contemporary dance company Verb Ballets. About Co-directorMichael Medcalf
Medcalf’searly training in dance began as a student at the Cleveland Schoolof the Arts. As a scholarship student, he attended the University of theArts, Philadanco, the Chautauqua Institute and the Ailey School. As a professional dancer Medcalf has worked intimately with prominentchoreographer such as Talley Beatty, Katherine Dunham, DonaldMcKayle, Ronald K. Brown, Bill T. Jones, Cleo Parker Robinson, KimRobards, Dianne McIntyre, Kevin (Iega) Jeff, Gary Abbott, Eleo Pomare,Dwight Rhoden, David Taylor, Shapiro and Smith, David Shimotakahara and DavidRousseve amongst others.  Highlighting his professional performing careeris his work as a soloist and principal ensemble member of the Denver based Cleo Parker Robinson DanceEnsemble.
 
In1998, Michael Medcalf established Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre (CCDT)in Cleveland, Ohio. Over the next 9 years as artistic director, he developed the companyinto a dynamic and highly sought after organization known for its innovativeartistic programming, outreach approaches and collaborations.  Hecommissioned works by both new and established choreographers such as DianneMcIntyre, Shapiro and Smith, and David Rousseve amongst others, and createdseveral ballets for the company himself. In addition, he has choreographed for opera, musical theater,and contemporary dance companies nationally. His experience, professionalism,and leadership helped establish CCDT as one of the most relevant and respectedarts organizations in Northeast Ohio. He hasserved on the Boards of Ohio Dance and Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio and onpanels for Dance Cleveland, the Ohio Arts Council and the Ohio Art PresentersNetwork.  Amongst his many awards,including Young Audiences of Greater Cleveland’s Sunshine Award, in 2007, Northern Ohio Live Magazine honoredMedcalf for his contributions to the dance community by awarding him with its Award of Achievement. 
 
Asa choreographer, Medcalf’s contemporary work has received numerous commissions,awards and fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council and various dancecompanies, colleges and universities throughout North America.  His award-winning choreography has also beenhighlighted in showcases presented by St. Marks Dancespace Project in New YorkCity, in Cleveland Public Dance Theatre’s Danceworks Series as well in asColumbus, Cincinnati and Dayton for the annual statewide Ohio Dance Festival.  Medcalf’s choreography for opera and musical theater includes A Little Night Music, Andrew Lippa’s The Wild Party, Guys and Dolls, Crowns,Carman Jones, La Traviata, The Hot Mikado, The Wiz, Westside Story, Fame!,South Pacific, Hansel and Gretel,Wole Soyinka’s The Bacchae of Euripides,Caroline or Change and Little Shop of Horrors and Fame! The Musical.
 
Asequally in demand by higher learning institutions as an instructor, Medcalf hasserved on the faculty of The University of Akron, Cuyahoga Community Collegeand The Dance Institute of Akron.  He has conducted numerous residencies,master classes and workshops for private studios and institutions including The ClevelandSchool of the Arts, Virginia Schoolof the Arts, University of Northern Colorado, University of NorthernOhio, ElmiraCollege, LongwoodUniversity, Youngstown State University and the Ohio Dance Festival amongst others.
 
Mr.Medcalf currently co-directs and performs with the Greene/Medcalf MovementProject, serves as an Artist in Residence at the ClevelandSchool of the Arts, consultants for Cleveland Metropolitan School  District and teaches modern dance at theCleveland School of Dance.


About Hubb’s Groove
The band was founded in 1995under the name Moment's Notice. The founding band members are Rodney Hubbard,Cliff Coleson, David Heman, Eddie Baccus Jr. and I, Robert Hubbard Jr. As bandmembers went out of tour, we added new members, such as Robert White, AndrewBraxton, Keith McKelly, Jermaine Lockhart, Tony Pulizzi and Walter Barnes Jr.The band changed its name to Straight to the Point in 2000, Change on Five in2004, then Hubb's Groove 2006.

The band has performed with, Angela Bofil, RogerSmith, Marcus Johnson, Walter & Tramaine Hawkins, Vesta Williams, GeraldLevert and many more. The band has opened up for Earth, Wind and Fire, YellowJackets, Randy Crawford, Marian Meadow, Pieces of a Dream, Wayman Tisdel, andRoy Ayers. We have individually we played for R. Kelly, Ellis Marsalis, AnthonyHamilton, Lalah Hathaway, Music Soul Child, Jodeci, Bob James, Peices of Dream,Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat, Wynton Marsalis, SeanJones, Changing Faces and Men at Large. We have individually appeared on TheArsenio Hall Show, American Idol, Diddy's Making His Band and many more.

About Reggie Kelly
Mr.Kelly, a native of Pensacola, Florida and alumnus of Cleveland’s renownedKaramu House Theater who has performed a musical blend of contemporary andclassical jazz.  He can take a song andmesmerize you.
 
Mr.Kelly’s past experience as a national award-winning singer, actor, director,choreographer and playwright with over 30 years of experience as a performingartist.
 
Hisauthentic arrangements and interpretation of various artists include Kem, AlJarreau, Frankie Beverly and the soft baritone voice of Nat King Cole.  His silky soulful voice has pleased audiencesthroughout the years.
 
Mr. Kelly hasreceived critical acclaim performing leading roles throughout the tapestry ofAfrican-American musical theater classics. Some highlights include: The Wiz, Dreamgirls, Don’t Bother Me I Can’tCope, The Mahalia Jackson Story, and Tambourines to Glory.  He appeared in SanKofa with Ossie Davis,Sepia Stages at the Kennedy Center, Five Guys Named Moe at the Ford’s Theater,and Bessie’s Blues at Washington D.C.’s Studio Theater.  
 
He toured Europeand the Virgin Islands in The Black Gospel,starred in Heaven’s Child-The Emmett Till Story, co-starring Grammy-awardwinner Regina Belle, and Charnelle Brown of the television series A Different World.
 
Mr. Kelly openedfor Angie Stone at the House of Blues and Najee on the Nautica Queen.  He has performed jazz at upscale venuesthroughout Cleveland and New York including Club Isabelle, The Century Room atthe Ritz-Carlton, Jazz 28, The Verve, The InterContinental Hotel, 20/20 Martiniin the Flats, Fat Fish Blue, Zin’s, XO, The House of Blues, weddings and jazzfestivals throughout the country.
 
About Robert Sharpe
Robert Fielding Sharpe began formal studyof the classical guitar with Dr. Andrew Zohn in 2000. Since his national radiodebut on NPR's acclaimed program From the Top, Sharpe has received many awardsand honors including first prize in the 2006 East Carolina University GuitarCompetition, second prize in the 2006 Music Academy of North Carolina GuitarCompetition, third prize in the 2006 St. Joseph International Guitar Competition,fourth prize in the 2004 Guitare Lachine International Guitar Competition, andfourth prize in the 2006 National Guitar Workshop Competition.
 
Mr. Sharpe has performed as a soloist inthe United States, Italy, Canada,and Slovenia.He has been a performer for the East Carolina University Guitar Festival, the 92nd StreetY, the Tennessee State University Classical Guitar Seminar, the New EnglandGuitar Society, the Fitzgerald Arts Council Concert Series, the ClevelandClassical Guitar Society, the Greater Cincinnati Guitar Society, and the FortWorth Guitar Guild. International performances include concerts at the GuitarFestival on the Mediterranean in Italyand the Guitar Festival of Lipica in Slovenia. Mr. Sharpe has alsoserved on the faculty of the 2009 Tennessee State University Classical GuitarSeminar and the 2007 East Carolina University Guitar Festival.  He has performed in master class with suchacclaimed artists as The Assad Brothers Duo, The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet,David Russell, David Tanenbaum, Jorge Morel, Soloduo, and Paul Galbraith. Mr.Sharpe holds a B.M. in Music Performance from ColumbusState University,where he was the recipient of the Woodruff Award and the Presser FoundationMusic Scholarship and a M.M. from Yale University. He iscurrently studying with Jason Vieaux and pursuing a D.M.A. at the ClevelandInstitute of Music.
