WESTERN RESERVEPLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES
IT’S 55TH SEASON
Western Reserve Playhouse will open its Fifty-fifth season with the comedyBe My
Baby byKen Ludwig. Following it’s tradition of summer family musicals the
theatre will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with music and
lyrics by William Finn and book by Rachel Sheinkin. The fall mystery Panic by
Joseph Goodrich takes place in Paris, France.
The theatre will also repeat its popular Kids Night Out performance following
its 2011 Youth Theatrical Classes.
Be My Baby directed by Jim Volkert with performances on June 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, &
18 is a comedy that Ken Ludwig wrote for Dixie Carter and Hal Holbrook for the
Broadway stage where it received rave reviews. “Funny, filled with laughs and a
whole lot of fun”, “Hilarious” said Variety.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee directed by Marc Howard plays July
22, 23, 29, 20 and Aug. 5, 6, 12, & 13 is the hilarious tale of overachievers’
angst, chronicles the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the
spelling bee championship of a lifetime. The show is renowned for its audience
participation in the onstage shenanigans.
Panic directed by Jan Futhey takes place in 1960s Paris as a film director
becomes friends with a critic who wants to be a director but their futures are
in jeopardy when a past relationship brings blackmail and leads to murder.
Writer Joseph Goodrich was awarded the Edgar Poe Mystery Award for Best New Play
for Panic.
All Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 p.m. the theatre is not
offering Sunday performances this year.
KIDS NIGHT OUT! Is family entertainment at its best! On July 8th and 9th Jim
Volkert and his students from the 2011 Youth Theatrical program which runs from
June 20 thru July 8th will participate in a special performance that includes
not only a play but a night full of laughter and songs as well as a delightful
puppet show. This was a big hit last year for the whole family, parents,
grandparents and children of all ages.
Special performance time for this show is 7:30 p.m.Ticket prices for all will be
$5.00
Prices for the regular Season Plays Adults $11.00 Seniors/Students $10.00
Musicals Adult $14.00
Seniors/Students $13.00

Curtain Time: 8:00 p.m. (No Sunday performances)

Bath/Richfield township line in SummitCounty.
When traveling on I-77 use Exit 143. At the top of the ramp turn left from both
the North and the South. Go approx. one mile and turn right onto Revere Roadfor
one half a mile and arrive at the big gray barn which is Western
ReservePlayhouse.
