*THE ACADEMY IS A CONSORTIUM OF NINE GREAT SCHOOLS
*

The Academy is an accredited, half day college preparatory program under the
umbrella of northeast Ohio’s Excel Tecc, a group of Nine school districts
that include Aurora, Beachwood, Chagrin Falls, Mayfield, Orange, Richmond
Heights, Solon, South Euclid-Lyndhurst and West Geauga.
At the Academy, students earn 6 college credit hours. Students meet either
in morning sessions (7:30-10) or afternoon sessions 12:30-2:40.
Transportation is provided by the public school systems. The Performing
Arts Academy is a rare opportunity for juniors and seniors who are students
in the Aurora, Beachwood, Chagrin Falls, Mayfield, Orange, Richmond Heights,
Solon, South Euclid, and West Geauga school systems to study theatre a half
day every day as part of their regular school curriculum.

*TRAINING AT THE ACADEMY IS PERSONAL AND ARTISTIC*

The training you will encounter at the Academy is personal. That means we
use theatre as a vehicle to challenge you to know yourselves as creative and

imaginative individuals. The discoveries and procedures essential to
creativity on the stage are equally vital to all human beings in their daily
lives:

   -

      the courage to create,
      -

the confidence to stand calmly before others in stressful situations,
      -

the innate ability to be expressive in a graceful

      articulate way,
      -

the sense of play that makes one young at heart,
      -

the wisdom to see the big picture,
      -

the rare and essential skill to communicate clearly
      -

the sensitivity to find meaning in relationships and in the business
      of life.

These are all real-world benefits of the training at the Academy.

*THE THEATRE TRAINING AT THE ACADEMY IS CLASSICAL *
That means the students are being challenged not only to know themselves,
but to also know, understand and develop the skills to act and direct the
great plays of the world theatre from Shakespeare to the modern theatre and
musical theatre. We produce seven shows a year, plus many senior projects,
class recitals, new play festivals and improv shows. We also work very hard
to give students an opportunity to have hands-on experience on the stage,
regardless of where they stand on the continuum of their growth. Year
after year the students accomplish many mountain tops they never knew
existed. As a result, we have a 99% college placement rate and acceptances
from the finest acting schools in the nation.

*ACADEMY STUDENTS ATTEND GREAT COLLEGES
*Students of the Academy now attend such schools as Yale, Carnegie Mellon,
Boston University, NYU, University of the Arts, American Academy of Dramatic
Art, Musical and Dramatic Academy, Columbia College Chicago, University of
Illinois at Champaign, Emerson, Northwestern, University of Southern
California, Pepperdine, and many many others. Two years of study at the
Academy gives every student a leg-up in creating a professional portfolio,
a resume of great shows, and an audition that gets attention and results.
