About the Show:

"The Gospel According to Tammy Faye" is a modern musical fantasy which tells
the rags-to-riches-to-redemption story of the world's first televangelist
and most unlikely LGBT ally! Three women of different ages will share the
title role, and an ensemble of versatile actors will create the life, loves,
villians and angels which populate Tammy Faye's rich, hilarious and often
surprisingly touching biography.

GATTF ha it's world premiere at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, and has
since played to sold out houses and standing ovations in Houston and
Portland, OR. Following a workshop at the Manhattan Theatre Club (starring
Tony Nominee Sally Mayes and a host of veteran Broadway actors) the authors
have continued to develop the work. The University of Akron production will
mark and important milestone in the musical's development, as a precursor to
the professional 're-launch' of the piece in 2012.
