The City of Brecksville's Bicentennial celebration throughout 2011 will feature the great American musical The Music Man, running June 10-12 and 17-19. This unique presentation is being staged as a collaborative effort by the Brecksville-Broadview Hts. City School District, Brecksville Theater On The Square, Brecksville Little Theatre, Brecksville Community Band and Chorus and Broadview Hts. Spotlights.

The Music Man takes the audience to Smalltown, USA where fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a marching band he vows to organize - despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef! His plan to skip town with the cash is foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall!

Directed by Doug Farren, music directed by Joy Fenton, choreographed by Jolene McPherson and technically directed by Chuck Valley and Scott McPherson, this great American masterpiece written by Meredith Willson will take place at the Brecksville-Broadview Hts. High School auditorium.

Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 with Sunday matinees at 2:00. All tickets are $10, and seating is by general admission, not reserved. The high school is handicapped-accessible.To purchase tickets online, please go to the websites for the city or each of the involved theaters. Tickets may otherwise be purchased at the door up to one hour before each performance.

There is also a need for many volunteers for this production (set builders, painters, costumers, dressers, backstage help, ushers, ticket sellers, etc.). To volunteer, please contact producer Renee DeSantis at reneede at sbcglobal.net.
