Cultures of Asia Line Up to Shine on the Cleveland Asian Festival Stages

 

(Cleveland, OH 4/19/2011)  Have you ever watched a Martial Arts film and
debated with a friend whether or not there were any stunt wires?  Have you
ever been enamored by Asian Fashion or have been startled by their beautiful
costumes?  Do you enjoy music with a good rhythm?  If you have answered
"Yes" to any of those questions then the 2011 Cleveland Asian Festival is
the place for you to be!  This event will be happening on May 21st and May
22nd at Asia Plaza located on the corner of East 30th Street and Payne
Avenue.  The event will be from 11 AM to 7 PM on both days.

                

                With representation from all over Asia, the Cleveland Asian
Festival will deliver a wide variety of entertainment throughout the course
of both days.  The Performances will start at 11 AM in the morning for both
days.  At noon, there will be a "Welcome Ceremony."  On Saturday, the Lion
Dancers will bless the Festival and on Sunday the Dragon Dancers will do the
same.  Celebrity Vietnamese comedian Dat Phan (winner of NBC's "Last Comic
Standing" Season 1) will be entertaining on Saturday May 21st at 1:30 PM and
4:30 PM.  

 

                With two outdoor stages this year, the Cleveland Asian
Festival will feature talent from all over Asia.  There will be live Martial
Arts (without stunt wires- we promise!) at the PNC Stage located in the
Warwick parking lot.  At this stage, there will also be a Fashion Hour on
both Saturday and Sunday where you will get to see lovely ladies in
traditional Asian apparel.  Saturday will feature Indian Fashion and Sunday
will feature Vietnamese fashion.  At the Cleveland Public Power Stage (CPP
Stage) there will be Cultural Dances, Music, Guest Speakers and Comedy
shows.  The CPP Stage is also where the Eggroll Eating Contest will be held
on Saturday, and the Samosa Eating Contest will be held on Sunday.  

 

                Even if the colorful entertainment does not keep you glued
at one of the two stages, there is still plenty to do at the Cleveland Asian
Festival.  Lolly the Trolley will be giving a tour of AsiaTown.  Ariel
International Center is one of the Trolley stops and they will be hosting
performances as well.  A Health Pavilion with free health screenings will be
located in the corridors of Asia Plaza.  There will be many food vendors to
give you a unique palette of flavors from all across Asia.  For those of you
who love shopping, the World Market will have plenty for you to browse and
buy.  Do you have little ones?  There will be a Children's Area with games,
inflated playgrounds, and crafts to keep their curiosity engaged.  All in
all, there is something for everyone at the 2011 Cleveland Asian Festival.
