PLAYHOUSESQUARE ANNOUNCES
2011 BROADWAY SUMMER CAMP FOR TEENS

-Camp Features Master Classes with Professionals from JERSEY BOYS-

Cleveland, OH - The Broadway Summer Camp for teens ages 14-19 at PlayhouseSquare features one-of-a-kind opportunities to work with cast and crew members from touring Broadway productions. This year, the PlayhouseSquare Community Engagement & Education Department is offering a camp with cast and crew members from Jersey Boys.

"We are in a unique position to connect students with professionals who are living their dreams," explained Colleen Porter, director of community engagement & education at PlayhouseSquare. "They share what it is really like to audition for a musical; work with a director, choreographer, and musicians; go on tour; perform eight shows a week...everything that happens along the route to Broadway."

The Broadway Summer Camp is scheduled for July 11-15. The camp focuses on the triple threat of musical theater - acting, singing and dancing - and features master classes led by the professionals, a ticket to a performance of Jersey Boys at PlayhouseSquare, a professional headshot and lunch each day. The fee for the camp is $400.

"We've made some changes to the structure of this year's camp based on feedback from participants," said Porter. "In years past, participants were asked to audition for the camp in the spring. This year, participants will be divided into several groups based on skill levels on the first day of camp."

Students interested in the Broadway Summer Camp may call 216-348-7909 for more information or to register.

Camps are held in the Idea Center(r) at PlayhouseSquare, located at 1375 Euclid Avenue. Parking is available in the PlayhouseSquare parking garage, the Hanna parking garage and various surface lots in the area.
