[NEohioPAL] Musical Cabaret "Billy Bishop Goes to War" Returns This Weekend

The TrueNorth production of the musical cabaret Billy Bishop Goes to  
War is currently running now through May 22nd. The show tells the  
story of real life WWI fighter pilot William Avery "Billy" Bishop, on  
his journey from a young man to a hardened soldier, and stars Dana  
Hart playing 17 different characters (including Billy Bishop) and Rick  
Fortney as the singing piano player. The show is a true tour de' force  
for Hart, as he portrays everyone from Billy Bishop to a Scottish RAF  
pilot, a military commander, and even a refined English poetess.  
Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday  
at 3:00 pm. Tickets for the show only are $12.50 presale and $15.00  
the day of the performances, and are available online at  
www.TNCArts.org or by calling 440-949-5200.

Join local historian Paul Bieber this Friday May 13th at 6 pm for a  
discussion on WWI poster art. Paul will discuss the propaganda posters  
used during WWI and include samples from the display in the TrueNorth  
gallery. The discussion is free and open to the public--stay after for  
the 7:30 performance of Billy Bishop!

For the Saturday performances (May 14th, and May 21st) there will be a  
special optional "dinner theatre" package featuring a 6:00 pm catered  
dinner from Deluca's. The $40 ticket price includes appetizers, salad,  
steamed vegetables, Chantilly potatoes, your choice of entree (Chicken  
en Croute, Yankee Pot Roast, or Mushroom Ravioli), coffee, iced tea,  
dessert, and your ticket to the show. Preorder tickets for the dinner

This presentation of Billy Bishop Goes to War is also sponsored by the  
Western Reserve Historical Society. Present your Billy Bishop ticket  
stub at the WRHS History Center in University Circle and receive $1  
off of admission. Admission to the WRHS History Center includes access  
to the Crawford Auto Aviation Collection, Library/Archives & Genealogy  
Center, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, History Museum, and two historic  
mansions.

In conjunction with Billy Bishop, TrueNorth will also feature an  
exhibit of replica airplanes from May 6th-May 22nd. The exhibit is  
free of charge, and will be open throughout the run of Billy Bishop.

The WWI models used in the production of Billy Bishop Goes to War and  
the exhibit are radio controlled, flying scale models of airplanes  
flown in combat by both sides of the conflict known as The Great War  
and and are on loan to support the Billy Bishop production and to  
promote RC aeromodeling. They were built by Jeff Shutic and Jim Suchy  
who are members of the Lorain County RC Club www.lcrc.org. Members of  
the Lorain County RC Club will also be giving a free lecture on WWI  
airplanes--the talk with be at 2 pm on Sundays May 8th, May 15th, and  
May 22nd at 2 pm, prior to the matinee performances of Billy Bishop.

In the TrueNorth Art Gallery we'll be featuring a special Artist Focus  
on Jim Ptacek. Jim is a Cleveland native who is famous for his prints  
and glicees of famous landmarks in Cleveland and other major cities.  
His work is sold in the TrueNorth Art Gallery and other venues all  
across the country. Also featured in the TrueNorth Gallery is our  
Americana show, featuring prints, posters, and memorabilia from WWI.
