[NEohioPAL] CPT: DanceWorks Features a DOUBLE BILL & Cut To Pieces Opens Next Week!

Cleveland Public Theater's Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to announce DanceWorks '11, a showcase for contemporary dance featuring area companies performing from May 5 to June 5 in CPT's Gordon Square Theatre. If you missed the first three weeks there is still time to see Double-Edge Dance (Etched in Motion), Greene/Medcalf Movement Project (The Beginning) and Mikaela Clark & Mackenzie Clevenger (Without Words...Moving Against the Sex Trade).



This week DanceWorks '11  will feature:

Double - Edge Dance

Kora Radella, Artistic Director
Double-Edge Dance will showcase Etched in Motion, choreographic intrigues teetering on the brink of emotional breakdowns or breakthroughs. Radella, in close collaboration with co-founder and composer Ross Feller, choreographed the Double-Edge works. Samantha Beckerman, Shaina Cantino, Matt Davis and Radella will premiere four pieces. Matthew Thornton, former member and current guest teacher for the Pilobolus Dance Theatre will perform Laden in collaboration with textile artist Rebecca Cross.



Greene/Medcalf Movement Project
Terence Greene & Michael Medcalf, Co-Directors
The Beginning is a collection of existing and new solos and duets by local and national choreographers performed by the Greene/Medcalf Movement Project. The vision for this project is to create, commission and perform new and thought-provoking contemporary solos and duets that aim to push the boundaries of dance. Longtime friends and former classmates at Cleveland's School of the Arts, this duo joined forces to in 2010 to create a duet for their high school reunion and subsequently launched the project. In addition to Medcalf and Greene, choreographers on the program include Lisa K. Lock and Troy McCarty


DanceWorks '11 performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 on Thursday and $25 for all remaining performances.

Cut to Pieces
June 2 - June 11
Chris Seibert's haunting tour-de- solo show returns for two weekends only! What begins as a classic "whodunit?" quickly takes a nose dive into the psyche of a fragmented individual. Blending live video, film and animation, Cut to Pieces is a poignant glimpse into one young woman's past and present and the coping mechanisms she relies on to reconcile the two. Written by Seibert and Raymond Bobgan and directed by Raymond Bobgan, this original CPT production is set to tour throughout 2011 - 2013.

Show times are Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 on Thursday & Monday and $25 For all remaining performances.
