Mercury Summer Stock continues its thirteenth season at the Cleveland Play House with the rarely performed musical, GRAND HOTEL, July 15–July 30, 2011. Directed and choreographed by MSS Artistic Director Pierre-Jacques Brault, this GRAND HOTEL brings out all the drama, desire and lust for life set forth in the groundbreaking 1931 film and in the subsequent Tommy Tune directed Broadway hit.

 

1928. Berlin. The city's decadent high life is in full swing at the world's most opulent resort, the Grand Hotel.  Inspired by the Oscar-winning film starring Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, & Joan Crawford, Maury Yeston's award-winning musical creates a masterful portrayal of six disparate and desperate characters - all linked by being in the same hotel on the same night.

 

Shenandoah Musical Theatre major and Sandusky, OH, native Nate Huntley, leads the 17-member ensemble cast as Baron von Gaigon. Cleveland theatre favorites Holly Felier (Grushinskaya), Dan DiCello (Preysing), Amiee Collier (Raffaella), Emily Grodzik (Flaemmchen) and Brian Marshall (Kingelein) portray the six hotel guests whose lives are dramatically and forever altered by a one-night stay in Berlin’s decadent Grand Hotel. MSS resident musical director Ryan Neal conducts. Flashy costumes, hot jazz music and a love-triumphs-over-all story line, GRAND HOTEL is the perfect night out with your loved ones, or that stranger you have been not-so-secretly stalking!
