Custom made african dun duns:

I am selling a set of 3 dun duns (picture available upon request) ($600 cash) ... which were custom made by Baile, of Baile's African Drumworks, a master drummaker in Washington D.C. They have metal shells, and are covered in beautiful authentic mudcloth from Mali. The heads are made of cowhide (from Africa, as I waited two months for the hides to arrive), and they are very unique because I had them made so that one side (pictured) still has the fur (though of course it wears off in the center as you play them)... and the other side is shaved, and very smooth, so it can be played with the hands, in something of a conga-style... so this set has two distincts sets of voices...

The prominent symbol on the african mudcloth is the Gye Nyame... which is a west african symbol which means "God/Spirit is in all things"... it also represents the balance of masculine and feminine energies...

Must be sold as a set as they are a family.... :-)

They can be played in several different ways... all three together (they have 3 different tones), upright... This is called "African Ballet Style"... or, you can have three people playing them (each one with their own drum), usually, they are played on their side then… often with a bell attached… Or, I sometimes play just the dununba/kinkini on their side, with a bell… (and then the sangban is played separately, usually also with a bell, by someone else)… very versatile! (bells and sticks not included)…

Email me if interested and I will send you a picture.
