A Production of VARICOSE VANITIES, a one-act play by Don Bianchi

Audition Dates/Times:  Wed, 8/10 & Thu, 8/11, 6pm-7pm 

            

            

Place:  Dobama Theatre, 2340 Lee Road, Cleveland Hts, OH 44118

 

Directed by:  Joyce Casey

 

Play synopsis:  It's Tuesday night at a small theatre, and the entire
audience of eight people has departed at intermission.  Arthur, a veteran
actor, visits the costume shop where the wardrobe mistress, Rose, is a
thrice-retired actress of some reknown.  These are two nice people who
respect and care for each other.  But when Arthur, whose confidence is at an
all-time low, tries to provoke Rose into advising him as to whether or not
he should quit acting, she will have none of it.  Eventually, Rose reveals
secret from her past, that may or may not be true; and in so doing, she
manipulates Arthur into making his own decisions about acting.

 

Characters:  

Rose:  age 65-72

Arthur:  age 60-70

 

Production date:  October 2, 2012 (Dobama's Theatre Naming event)

Additional dates may be added.

 

Audition:  Short monologue (max 2 minutes) is suggested but not required.
Will also read sides.

Readings will be emailed upon request.  The script is not available.

 

AEA contracts:  There are no AEA Contract available for this production.
Non-AEA Contracts will pay $100 each.
