*Woody Guthrie’s American Song*

*Cast*

Actors’ Summit, Akron’s Equity professional theater, has announced the cast
for the first show of its 13th season. *Woody Guthrie’s American
Song*traces the life of the American troubadour who gave a passionate
voice to
America during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. Based on the songs &
writings by Woody Guthrie, the play was conceived and adapted by Peter
Glazer, whose father had played with Woody. The play will have a four week
run at Greystone Hall in downtown Akron from October 6 through the 30th.

Unlike other productions of this play, the Actors’ Summit production has no
pit orchestra. All of the musical accompaniment is provided by a talented
cast of eight actor/singer/musicians.

MaryJo Alexander on vocals is the Co-artistic Director of Actors’ Summit.

Ryan Anderson doubles on guitar and bass. Ryan’s first performance with
Actors’ Summit was a year ago in *A Murder, A Mystery, and a Marriage*.

On banjo is Scott Davis. Scott’s first role with Actors’ Summit was in
1999.

Sally Groth performs on fiddle. Sally has appeared in more Actors’ Summit
productions than any other actor.

On penny whistle, mandolin, and guitar is Dana Hart. Dana has been a
frequent performer with Actors’ Summit.

Mark Leach performs on guitar and vocals. This is Mark’s second production
with the theater. His first single with his band will be for sale on Itunes
later this month.

On fiddle, mandolin, and vocals is Emma Picht, a seventh grader from Miller
South School for the Performing Arts. This is Emma’s second production with
Actors’ Summit.

Keith E. Stevens on vocals has performed in 23 major roles for Actors’
Summit. He is a lifetime member of The Actors’ Studio.
