Director and Producer of “Doughboy”, JW Myers and Route 40 Films Presents:

6-Week Scene Acting Intensive

 

 

What: A jam packed 6 session course in film acting and scene intensive

Dates and Times: Thursday nights from 6:00-9:00 pm starting November 3rd through December 15th (there will be no class on Thanksgiving, November 24th).

Location: FAMILY of FAITH CHURCH, 800 E. Market St., Akron, OH, 44305

Price: $275 for entire 6 week course! 

Info: This class is currently open to talent ages 17 and up. This is an adult course and some scenes may include adult subject matter.

 

Only 16 students will be accepted, so submit early and secure your spot TODAY.

 

To be considered: 

 

ñ  Please record a video of a short audition and submit it to ( <mailto:route40classes at gmail.com> route40classes at gmail.com) for review. 

ñ  OR, you can attach a video, a YouSendIt file, or a link to Vimeo, YouTube, or any similar video service.

ñ  Monologues are okay but scenes read with another actor are recommended (eye contact/connection very important). The video quality is irrelevant, but workshop instructors must be able to see your facial expression, eyes, and hear your voice

ñ  Please write a short introduction about yourself, why you are interested in taking the class.

 

Information: The course will cover a wide variety of topics and styles, including Auditioning/Cold Reading, Scene Study, Improvisation. It will be a light and fun environment, and open discussion is encouraged. Scenes will be provided, but actors are always encouraged to bring in their own material, either self-generated, or from current projects/auditions.

Producer/Director Bio

JW is a seasoned veteran of the Los Angeles independent film arena, with a broad depth of experience in nearly every production capacity. His skill set ranges from directing, producing, executive producing, writing, acting, and editing.

 

For Route 40 Films, he produced and directed “Doughboy”, a feature film shot in Wheeling, WV in partnership with Flyover Films, LLC ( <http://www.facebook.com/DoughboyTheMovie> www.facebook.com/DoughboyTheMovie). It stars Terry Kiser and was rated 5 out of 5 ‘DOVES’ for both the screenplay and film from the Dove Foundation (www.Dove.org). “Doughboy” is set for national distribution in early 2012. It features Cleveland area actors Claudia Esposito and Rick Montgomery JR.

 

He also taught at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles, as well as Scene Study classes with Dee Wallace (Stone) and the (Christina) Hempstead Studios. He directed and performed with several traveling improvisational groups, playing such venues as The Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory. J.W. holds a B.A. in Theatre from Frostburg State University in Maryland, and an M.A. in Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in California. 

 

He currently resides in Ohio with his wife and two young children.
