Seeking Resumes of Teaching Artists Experienced in Working with Inner City Children and Youth Ages 6 – 17.

Foluké Cultural Arts Center is seeking teaching artists in Dance (Ballet, Modern, African, Hip Hop), Visual Arts, and Theater to establish a community arts entity in Cleveland’s Promise Neighborhood, the Central area (East 22 to East 55th, Woodland to Euclid Avenues). Foluké Cultural Arts is committed to making performing and visual arts, and arts education available to all particularly those who live in underserved areas.  The programming of Foluké is family oriented with focus on at-risk children and youth.  The goal is to serve as a catalyst for improved academic achievements by providing alternatives to negative behaviors by instilling discipline, self-pride and boosting self-confidence through self-expression and self-discovery.

Classes will be held at various venues in the Central Area during after school hours weekdays (4 – 6 PM, beginning January 2012), during the summer 4 – 6 weeks 10AM – 3PM, and in and out of school fall 2012(tentative): Will also consider resumes of teaching artists in music - instrumental or voice (choir), design arts, and media arts.
