Second Annual 8 X 10  TheatreFest!

Call For Entries

 

Following the very successful launch of our 10 Minute Play Contest and Festival this summer, Weathervane Playhouse is happy to announce that the 2012 8x10 TheatreFest will be held on JULY 13-15, 2012!   

 

Playwrights from all around the country are invited to submit 10 minute plays to the Playhouse.   A committee of volunteer judges will read entries and choose eight Finalists.   Then, on TheatreFest weekend, Weathervane will present three performances of those plays.   Guest Judges will view and rank the plays and audience members will vote for their favorite.    Following Sunday's matinee performance, First and Second Place winners and the Audience Favorite will be announced and cash prizes awarded.   Thanks to an anonymous donor, Weathervane is pleased to increase playwright prizes for the 2012 TheatreFest.   

 

First Place: $350

Second Place: $250

Audience Favorite: $150

5 Runners Up: $50/each

 

Playwrights may submit up to 2 plays for a $10 administrative fee.   For complete guidelines and submission information, visit the Weathervane website at www.weathervaneplayhouse.com.  (Click on Shows/Events, Special Events.)   The deadline for submission is 5pm on May 16, 2012 or upon receipt of 300 entries, whichever occurs first.   

 

In other TheatreFest news, Richard Vetere,  a 2011 Weathervane Finalist, has recently learned that his play, The Kids' Menu, has been chosen as one of the Year's Best by Smith and Kraus Publishers.   It will be published in their anthology and Weathervane will be listed as the first producer along with director Scott Ferrall and actors Rachel Gehlert and Mike Pitt.   Our congratulations to Richard!
