You’re on a nonprofit board, so now what?
Seminar helps clarify board roles and responsibilities Dec. 1

KIRTLAND, Ohio – November 18, 2011 - The Lakeland Community College
Nonprofit and Public Service Center will host “The Nuts and Bolts of
Not-for-Profit Boards: A Fresh Look at Board Roles and Responsibilities”
on Thursday, December 1 from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. on the college's main
campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094, in the A Building, room
2100. The $55 fee includes a buffet supper. To register, visit
lakelandcc.edu/cl, or call 440-525-7116 and mention registration number
12FNPC125.01.

This session provides a perfect overview for board members struggling with
the difference between board and staff roles, for new board members with
little or no prior board experience, and for anyone interested in an
update on the current thinking about board roles and responsibilities.

Skilled facilitator Sarah Spengler, program director for Organizational
Assessment at United Way of Greater Cleveland, will review the basic roles
and responsibilities of boards in light of today’s pressures on
not-for-profits and present some new thinking about how to differentiate
board and staff roles. Attendees will come away with new ideas and ways
to get the discussion started about this important topic at their next
board meeting. Organizations are strongly encouraged to send multiple
board members, as well as board/staff teams, to this session.
