Aurora Community Theatre presents a free Holiday Show Dec. 3 

Carols Around the World - Everyone Welcome

 

AURORA - Aurora Community Theatre presents their annual gift to the community, a free holiday show
featuring songs of the season at 4 p.m. Dec. 3 on the Wells Main Stage of the Aurora Center for the
Performing Arts, 115 E. Pioneer Trail.

 

Marc C. Howard, director, and Karen M. Haus producer, collaborated on this year's original
performance CAROLS AROUND THE WORLD, accompanied by Anne Ramsay on piano. The show will feature cast
and crew from Aurora and nearby communities, presented with the generous support of Aurora Chrysler,
Dodge & Jeep. 

 

Dorothy Edwards, John and Alice Schmitt, Linda Balwinski and Brenda Redmond will serve as ushers and
Jacob Payne will handle lighting.

 

Men's chorus members include Rob Albrecht, Greg Hogan, Bernie Keister, Jim Monnett, Brian Pichola,
George Roemich and Jerry Schaber. Women's voices include Liz Fuller, Sherry Gloor, Phyllis Grumney,
Karen M. Haus, Carol Keister, and Theresa Benyo-Marzullo. Youth singers are Robby Albrecht, Deanna
Calder, Olivia Calder, Emily Delis, Hannah Gang, Sarah Gang, Corinne Holman, Lydia Holman , Sarah
Most and Andrew Wells. Rose Dougherty will play Mrs. Claus and Phil Potter will appear as her
husband, Santa.




 

Pre-show entertainment begins at 3 p.m. with special appearances by the Aurora School of Music, the
Emerald Ensemble Show Choir from Aurora High School and the Celestial Strings Quartet featuring
Harpist Roseann Canfora.

 

CAROLS AROUND THE WORLD begins at 4 p.m. with 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, followed by holiday
favorites from a variety of nations, including: Carol of the Little Russian Children, Polish
Lullaby, O Tannenbaum, Petit Papa Noel, He is Born (The Divine Christ Child), O Holy Night, What
Child is This?, All Through the Night, Fum-Fum-Fum, Heleluyan and Feliz Navidad plus seasonal
favorites from the US: December the 25th, Mele Kalikimaka, Do You Hear What I Hear?, Go Tell It On
The Mountain, Santa Claus, Indiana, Carol of the Bells, I'll Be Home for Christmas, 

 

Greg Hogan and Marianne Paul will perform cello duets: In the Town from France and The Prayer from
Italy. 

 

Rob Albrecht will introduce the grand finale, Silent Night, featuring lyrics sung in a variety of
languages: Jerry Schaber in German, Liz Fuller and Phyllis Grumney in French, Emily Delis and Fuller
in Greek, Hannah Gang and Robby Albrecht in Italian, with Sarah Most, Andrew Wells and Rob Albrecht
in Spanish. All other chorus members and the audience will sing along in English.

 

Santa & Mrs. Claus will then lead audience to the Gazebo for the official City of Aurora tree
lighting ceremony. 

 

There is no charge for this annual concert with open seating.

 

ACT, celebrating 52 successful seasons in 2011-12, annually presents three regular season shows, a
summer stock production plus two children's summer workshops, reaching an annual audience of nearly
7,000. ACT showcases the region's top actors, musicians, costume and set designers, construction,
lighting, sound and backstage crews -- all of whom generously donate their time and talent.
