*Wonderful Winter Theater Opportunities at SCA*

*4TH ANNUAL SCA PLAYWRITING COMPETITION*

Students, grades 7 - 12, are eligible to enter a short play of their own
creation (no more than 10 pages typed) into this competition. All play
submissions will be judged by a panel of three theater professionals and
the top four plays will be selected for production in the SCA One-Act
Festival. *Limit one submission*

*per student. Submissions must include the playwright’s name, age, grade,
school, address, email and phone number and be sent to Solon Center for the
Arts, Attn: Christine A. Madden 6315 SOM Center*

*Road, Solon, Ohio 44139 or emailed to cmadden at solonohio.org. *Submissions
emailed will receive a confirmation email.*

*Deadline for Submissions: Friday, January 27 (5:00 pm)*

*Winners Announced: Friday, February 24*

*THE PLAYWRIGHT’S PROCESS (Grades 7 - 12) Nehring*

*Saturday*

*Class: December 10, 17, January 7 and 14*

*Staged Reading: Sunday, January 15 (2:00 pm)*

Instructor and published playwright, Larry Nehring, will lead students
through the creative writing process and help them to work on their own
One-Act play. For those considering entry into the 4th Annual SCA
Playwriting Competition, this workshop is a great place to begin. The
process will conclude with a play reading of the students’ work.

SCA is excited to offer this unique and educational experience to all
non-traditional students. Homeschool Theater classes provide a nurturing
and comfortable environment in which students can experience the magic of
theater while socializing with their peers. Basics of the theater craft
will be taught through games, improvisation and creative script
collaboration. The eight week session will conclude with a presentation for
