*DOUG BERKY IN CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, MARCH 11*

Internationally acclaimed mask/movement artist *DOUG BERKY* will
appear on *Sunday,
March 11 at 2 p.m. at Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights.*

This free, hour-long performance, entitled *Kairos* *("ki' ros: the Hour"),
*is an impressionist portrayal of the Life of Jesus Christ told through
large stylized masks, movement, and story.

*DOUG BERKY* uses nearly two decades of experience to astound audiences
worldwide with performances that transcend age, race and culture. A master
of mime and improvisation, clowning and suspense, Doug sweeps his audience
along with fanciful portrayals of personalities and emotions familiar to
all, sometimes poignantly so.

In *Kairos*, Berky takes his audience on a journey to the first century AD,
when a baby was born into a hostile world looking for a conquering messiah.
This child grew into the most remarkable personage in the history of the
world, the world that he in fact created, the world that would crucify
him.This production uses symbolic visual images to help the audience
consider
the Gospel story, its context, and popular cultural assumptions.

Doug has performed for Two Penny Circus in New England, Montanaro Mime
Theatre (US, Mexico, Sweden), Sunshine Too, and his own solo work from 1983
to the present. He was featured in 4 television specials in Sweden;
"SeeSaw," an NBC children's series; a 3-video series for Ecufilm called
"Jesus Stories"; and "Light in the Darkness," his original mask drama of
the Easter story for Ecufilm.

This exciting event is sponsored by Arts in the Cathedral and is open to
all.  A free-will offering will be accepted.

Church of the Saviour is located at 2537 Lee Road, 1 block north of
Fairmount Blvd. in Cleveland Heights, OH.  The church has plenty of free
parking and is handicapped-accessible.
