"A Moon for the Misbegotten"

starring Terry Burgler, Dougfred Miller and special guest artist Lara Knox

March 22 to April 8, 2012

Coach House Theatre is very proud to present A Moon for the Misbegotten this
spring. A classic American drama and the final work of the incomparable
Eugene O'Neill, this powerful play is often considered a sequel to O'Neill's
A Long Day's Journey into Night.

A Moon for the Misbegotten, by Eugene O'Neill, will be presented March
22-April 8. Curtain times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with
Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Dinner or Brunch is available to all theatre
patrons prior to every performance at the Akron Woman's City Club next door.


There will be a special $12 preview performance Thursday, March 22 only, at
8 p.m. The official opening night is Friday, March 23. Group rates for
gatherings or office celebrations are available. 

Tickets are $18. The box office opens one hour before the show. Coach House
Theatre is located at 732 W. Exchange Street, in Akron, next to the Akron
Woman's City Club, and at the corner of W. Exchange and N. Portage Path.

DIRECTOR Terry Burgler, one of Coach House's two Artistic Directors, has
worked as an actor, director and producer nationally and internationally,
performing at the Globe Theatre in London, and winning accolades for his
work as Artistic Director at Porthouse Theatre and Ohio Shakespeare
Festival. He was named Outstanding Theatre Artists in 2007 by Arts Alive!
for his theatrical achievements, and he has won many awards as an actor and
director. He is also one of the two Artistic Directors of Ohio Shakespeare
Festival, which performs each summer at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, as well
as periodically at Coach House and the Players Guild of Canton. For Coach
House, Terry last directed and appeared in Shipwrecked! earlier this season.
He has directed our hit productions of You Can't Take It With You, Witness
for the Prosecution, Light up the Sky and Royal Coach Award winners for Best
Production Not Now, Darling! (2008-09) and Lettice and Lovage (2010-11). He
also has appeared on stage in Deathtrap and Sleuth. 

 

SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST Lara Knox, a resident of New York City, has performed
with the Ohio Shakespeare Festival for five seasons, and her roles have
included Kate in The Taming of the Shrew, Julia in The Two Gentlemen of
Verona and Emilia in Othello. Other favorite past roles include Lusia in A
Shayna Maidel (JCC), Cunningham in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Penn
State), Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (Penn State) and Gi in Northeast Local
(Crain, NYC). A graduate of the MFA Acting program of Penn State, Lara is a
proud member of Actors' Equity. 

 

 

The Playwright

Eugene O'Neill was the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1936. His
masterpiece, Long Day's Journey into Night (produced posthumously 1956), is
at the apex of a long string of great plays, including Beyond the Horizon
(1920), Anna Christie (1922), Strange Interlude (1928), Ah! Wilderness
(1933), and The Iceman Cometh (1946).
