New York Times and USA Today best-selling author and Cinda Williams Chima began writing poetry and stories in third grade, and later wrote novels in junior high school. These days she’s still making up stuff.

Her Heir Chronicles young adult contemporary fantasy series includes The Warrior Heir (2006), The Wizard Heir (2007) and The Dragon Heir (2008), with two more books forthcoming.

Chima’s best-selling young adult fantasy series Seven Realms launched with The Demon King (2009) and was followed by The Exiled Queen (2010) and The Gray Wolf Throne (2011).  The fourth book in this series, The Crimson Crown, is scheduled for a fall 2012 release.

Both the Heir Chronicles and Seven Realms series are New York Times bestsellers.  The Heir Chronicles is a contemporary fantasy series set in Ohio, and the Seven Realms series is, of course, set in the long ago and far away Seven Realms. So far, all of her novels have involved wizards behaving badly.

Chima’s books have also received starred reviews in Kirkus Reviews and Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA), among others. Her books have been named Book Sense and Indie Next List picks, an International Reading Association Young Adult Choice, a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age, to the Kirkus Reviews Best Young Adult list, and the VOYA Editors’ Choice, Best Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, and Perfect Tens lists. Her books also appear on numerous state awards lists. The Exiled Queen is the 2011 Teen Buckeye Book Award winner.

Chima was a recipient of the 2008 Lit Award for Fiction from The LIT: Cleveland’s Literary Center and was named among Cleveland Magazine’s Most Interesting People of 2009.
And, she is always working on her next novel.
