THE
NEAR EAST follows
American archaeologist Ken Schneider, hired by Arab scholar Aisha to
search for the elusive “Mother of Books.”  Facing the recent
death of his own son and the loss of his wife, Ken must confront his
beliefs as the mission takes them deeper into the desert and into
themselves.   As trials and revelations unfold, Ken engages the ghost
of a precocious Egyptian boy whileAisha'ssecretly gay brother struggles between love and his possible
deviation to radical Islam.
