Based on Louisa May Alcott's 1869
semi-autobiographical novel, LITTLE WOMEN, follows
the
adventures of Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March as they grow up in Civil War
America. The
beloved story of the March
sisters is timeless and deals with issues as relevant today as when
they were
written. Now, this wonderful narrative has been brought to life as an
exhilarating new
musical filled with glorious music, dancing and heart.

at the Mayfield Village Civic Center:
Friday July 6 at
7:30pm
Saturday, July 7
at 7:30pm
Sunday, July 8
at 2:00pm
Wednesday, July
11 at 7:30pm
Thursday, July
12 at 7:30pm
Friday, July 13
at 7:30pm
Saturday, July
14 at 7:30pm
Sunday, July 15
at 2:00pm.
Please prepare
an objective driven memorized musical selection for both Little Women and
Urinetwon,
one in the style of each show. Each of
these two pieces needs to be approximately
16 bars in length and both musical
pieces should last no longer than 3 minutes in length when
they are both timed
together. Please, bring a head shot,
resume and sheet music in the correct
key - an accompanist will be
provided. Please do not sing from Little Women or Urinetown and
absolutely no a cappella singing will be
accepted. Also, please prepare a one
minute memorized
monologue from a play.
Rehearsals begin
May 27 and run weekday evenings, and one afternoon and/or evening each
weekend
at either Hathaway Brown or Mayfield Village Civic Center.

Upon acceptance
into each show, you must attend at least 1 session (full or half day; 1, 2 or 3
week) of FPAC 2012 Summer Training. A $225 tuition fee is required for each
production.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Jo March(Mezzo with
belt)
Lead role requiring both comedic & dramatic skill. A very spirited,
passionate writer.
She is strong-willed, tomboyish and a very liberal woman
ahead of her time.
Meg March (Lyric soprano)
The eldest daughter and the beauty of the family - a romantic who wants more
from life
than just working as a governess. Struggles to fit into society
despite her family's poverty.
Amy March (Soprano)
A willful girl who is not content to be the "baby" of the family. A
painter who is
pretentious, spoiled, and quite the firecracker. Actor should be
able to play both the
12-year-old and adult versions of Amy.
Beth March (Light soprano)
Nervous and shy on the outside but has an inner strength. A musician. Devoted
to duty and
social caring for others, even at the expense of herself. She is a
peace-maker, and always
sees the good in everyone.
Marmee (Alto/Mezzo)
Mother to Jo, Meg,
Amy, & Beth. A compassionate, strong woman who cares deeply about
her
children and her community.
Aunt March(Mezzo)
The pretentious, crotchety, & difficult matriarch of the family. Widowed,
wealthy and willing
to try anything to maintain her influence over Marmee and
her girls. This role may be double
cast with Mrs. Kirk.
Laurie (Tenor)
Charming,
intelligent, bighearted but often hopeless. He loves Jo dearly, but quickly is
rejected
when he proposes. He later travels to Europe and meets, Amy, whom he
marries.
Mr. Brooke (Baritone)
Laurie's tutor. Slightly shy, stiff and mildly awkward. He is completely entranced with Meg.
Mr. Laurence (Baritone)
Laurie's curmudgeon grandfather and guardian, determined to make Laurie forget
his own
dreams and join the family business. His gruff, opinionated exterior
hides his heart of gold.
Professor Bhaer (Baritone).
A well respected German philosophy professor, who serves as Jo’s mentor.
Silently adores Jo
and announces his love for her at the end of the show.
(German accent is a plus)
Mrs. Kirk(Mezzo)
The middle-aged
Irish owner of the boarding house at which Jo stays. This role may be double
cast with Aunt
March. (Irish accent a plus)
Ensemble
Characters from Jo’s books and townspeople. The characters from “An Operatic Tragedy” may
be cast from the ensemble or will be double cast utilizing the principal
characters.
