[NEohioPAL] OPEN AUDITIONS FOR "SPRING AWAKENING"!!

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO –The Oakland Center for the Arts, Youngstown's
award-winning downtown contemporary theatre, announces auditions for the
smash hit rock musical, Spring Awakening, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26 &
27 @ 7:00 PM.

The show will be directed by award-winning director Michael Dempsey (*Jesus
Christ Superstar, I Am My Own Wife*), with Musical Direction by The Zou's
Jesse Martin (*Evil Dead*) and Choreography by Michael Akers Lawrence.
Auditions will be held at the theatre at 220 W. Boardman Street, Youngstown
Ohio.


The winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, SPRING AWAKENING is an
electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality, and rock & roll that has been
exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.
 Set in late-19th century Germany, it follows teenagers who are discovering
the inner and outer turmoil of sexuality. The original play was banned in
Germany for some time due to its frank portrayal of abortion,
homosexuality, rape, child abuse and suicide.  In the musical, alternative
rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score.

Please note that all actors will be involved in mature situations.  This
show contains partial nudity.  Strong musical theatre performers aged
18-adult are encouraged to audition.  (16 or 17-year olds MAY, at the
discretion of the director, be considered, if their parents agree to sign a
waiver.)


The cast is comprised of young actors, with only two adults, a man and a
woman, playing multiple roles.

For those auditioning for the teens, bring a prepared song, preferably in
the style of the show.  Bring sheet music.  An accompanist will be
provided.  There will also be a movement audition for the teens, so wear
clothing you can move in.  For those auditioning for the Adult Man and
Adult Woman (non-singing, non-dancing):   Be prepared to read from the
script.   ALL ROLES ARE AVAILABLE!
