Dobama Theatre presents GYMreads

Staged readings from the Playwrights' GYM

THE RING

A play in two acts by Deborah Magid, with additional material by Richard
Wagner

Thursday, July 12
 7:00 p.m.

SYNOPSIS: Who is protected, when you're lied to "for your own good"?

Shawna is terrified. Her husband dumped her for a Jew and her only idea for
making a living centers on a sock-puppet version of Richard Wagner's Ring
Cycle. Meanwhile, her mom Gretel's ailing heart prompts the sharing of
secrets that Shawna may never be ready to hear. A web of lies, omissions,
half-truths, and concealments unravels in the worst possible way.

With: Agnes Herrmann * as SHAWNA
Marcia Mandell as GRETEL
* Member of Actors' Equity Association
