Scholarship Opportunity for Area Dancers – Up to $10,000 to be awarded.

The Christine Jones-Meneer School of Dance is excited to announce that they
will be awarding up to $10,000 worth of dance scholarships for new
students. The School of Dance is widely recognized as one of the premier
professional dance training schools in Northeast Ohio in ballet, jazz and
tap. Scholarships awarded will include full and partial tuition in any or
all subjects with a value of up to $3,000 per student.


 The School of Dance offers its students multiple excellent and unique
performance opportunities. It is home to Ballet Theatre of Ohio
(BalletTheatreOhio.org), the pre-professional ballet company which performs
*The Nutcracker* and other full-length ballets at the Akron Civic Theatre.
Ballet students have the opportunity to perform in two full length ballets
at the Akron Civic Theatre each year. Jazz and Tap students who qualify
have the opportunity to join an exciting dance competition team, Dance
Kraze, which is a performance team that travels regionally to compete in
jazz, tap, lyrical and modern styles of dance.


 To qualify for a scholarship, students must be entering 5th -12th grade in
the fall of 2012 and have 3 or more years of dance training in their chosen
subject. Auditions for the scholarships will take place at the Christine
Jones-Meneer School of Dance on Wednesday, August 15 from 5pm-8pm, or
Saturday, August 25 from 1pm-4pm. Dancers may audition in any or all styles
of dance. Private auditions are also available.

Please arrive one-hour prior to audition time to register and warm-up. Come
dressed appropriately for class – if you have studied pointe, please be
prepared to take pointe class.

All dancers will be taking an audition class - choreographed pieces are not
necessary. Please call the Meneer School of Dance at (330) 688-3000 to set
up your specific audition time.
