*DOT’S JOURNEY*

*A Staged Reading*

*In the Tradition of Vintage Radio Plays*

*You know the story…*

*A little girl in Kansas is deposited in a strange and wonderful new world
by a tornado…and during her quest to find the way home, she makes a slew of
new friends (and enemies) while achieving self-realization. *

*You know the story.*

*Um…no.  *

*You don’t.*

*At least…you’ve never known it like this.*

*It is 1939. Dorothy is now Dot, an unemployed chorus girl and part-time
lady of the streets (in her twenties, of course)…following an attempt on
her life one night in her Los Angeles apartment by an intruder in a monkey
mask, she is prompted to pursue the incredible mystery of her heritage,
which lies in the forbidding San Francisco home of the father she has never
known…a reclusive millionaire with the initials W.O.Z…*

* *

*What she doesn’t know is that W.O.Z.’s estranged wife (whose maiden name
was West) will do anything to see her dead, because Dot is NOT her
daughter, but the walking reminder of her husband’s long-ago infidelity…*

* *

*Aboard the YellowTrail Express, Dot meets a kindly professor of
mathematics, Stephen Hayes…a flirtatious and overly-sensitive oil salesman,
Tim Smith…and a not-so-ruthless robber and stowaway, Lionel King. These
men quickly charm (and are charmed by) Dotty, who grows ever more nervous
at the thought of meeting W.O.Z.*

* *

*Is there a Good Witch? Kind of. Is there a Bad Witch? Most definitely. Is
there a pair of magic shoes? Um…yeah, you could say that. But to find out
how these elements from the classic fantasy fit into the real world of
1939, you’ll have to come and see the play. All your favorite characters
are in it…and Toto, too!*
