[NEohioPAL] Berko: nominations for local theatre awards

Richard:

The omission of sound design from the list of potential recipients of these
silly awards is symptomatic of a couple of things:

a) the inevitable take-it-for-granted attitude of a culture in which we are
constantly bombarded by recorded sound - cars, iThings, retail shops,
restaurants, even my dentist's chair...the shrubbery at the Zoo (!)

b) the inevitable emphasis of this sort of popularity poll on what is showy
and most obvious.

I, too, will be forgoing the exercise, for related reasons.
