Auditions for Charles Dicken's "SMIKE" at Olde Towne Hall Theatre directed by Sharon Godsey


The musical begins with scenes of bored students in a classroom taking part in daily testing. The production comments on issues of testing in the 1970s, still relevant to educators today. 
The class goes on to read the Dickens 
classic unenthusiastically. Reading about the harsh schooling conditions of Dotheby Hall, the students complain that their own school is bad 
enough. The teacher, Mr Nicholls, attempts to organize a musical to make the lesson fun but this draws complaints from another teacher and the 
Headmaster.
 Drawn back into time the schoolchildren 
re-live the story of Nicholas Nickleby and learn that their schooling is not quite as harsh as the Victorian experience!
