 "I Hate Hamlet" Opens on the  G. B. Community Theatre Stage




 

G.B. Community Theatre at the Ashtabula Arts Center will open the hilarious comedy  "I Hate Hamet" on Friday, October 26th at 8 p.m.  Additional performances will be held October 27, 28, November 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m. The G.B. Community Theatre production is directed by Bob Kilpatrick of Madison.

 

Andrew, a young and successful television actor relocates to New York and move into a beautiful apartment which is haunted by the ghost of John Barrymore, the greatest Hamlet actor of all time. With his television career in limbo, the actor is offered the opportunity to play Hamlet onstage, but there's one problem: He hates "Hamlet."  From the moment Barrymore's ghost returns, Andrew's life is no longer his own. A drunken Barrymore, fortified by a big ego, presses Andrew to accept the role and fulfill his actor's destiny.  The duo erupt into a wildly funny duel over women, art, success, duty, television, and yes, even the apartment. 

 

This production is not intended for children and contains material that may offend some people.

 

Tickets are: Adults $14, Seniors/Students $12 or save $2 per ticket when you purchase tickets in advance.  Advance sales must be purchased prior to 4 p.m. on the day of the show or by 4 p.m. Saturday for Sunday performances.Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Ashtabula Arts Center box office or by phone at (440) 964-3396.

 

G. B. Community Theatre will be offering the popular "Dinner Before the Show" prior to the November 3rd performance. Seating for the set menu dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $16 plus the price of your theater ticket. Dinner tickets must be purchased by noon on Wednesday, October 31. However seating is limited and dinner tickets often sell out before the deadline.  Dinner tickets should be ordered as soon as possible.  The menu for the "I Hate Hamlet" dinner includes 

Tossed Italian Salad, Glazed Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Green Beans, Marble Squares and Assorted Beverages.
