The cast and crew from Cuyahoga Community College's Western Campus
Theatre Department head to Michigan in January to perform the courtroom
drama Three Generations of Imbeciles at a prestigious college theater
conference developed by the Kennedy Center.

A regional selection committee recommended the Tri-C production, first
mounted in November, for presentation at the Region III gathering of the
Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. The annual event,
which takes place Jan. 8-12 at Saginaw Valley State University, draws
actors, teachers, writers and technicians from college theaters in five
states. The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival hosts eight
such regional conferences each year and a national conference in April.

Being invited to do a show there is a significant honor for any college,
but particularly for a two-year school, said Robert Ellis, Western
Campus Theatre coordinator. While the department has participated in the
conference before, "We've never taken a full production," Ellis said.

Tri-C's production of Three Generations of Imbeciles succeeds on all
fronts, he said. "It's the technical side, it's the actors, it's the
script."

The play follows the actions of an idealistic young lawyer as he defends
innocent victims of forced sterilization, euthanasia and policies
outlined by the American Eugenics movement. Written by William Baer, the
play debuted at Tri-C under the direction of Ellis.

We are opening up every aspect of the remounting this production to
interested students, teachers, as well as the general public. During
the actor rehearsals, Bob Ellis will be working with the actors to make
sure that the acting and blocking are as sharp as when the show was
running. During the technical rehearsals, the tech staff will rehearse
putting the technical aspects of the show together. This would include
constructing the set, getting the props and costumes in place, and
making sure that the sound and light cues are loaded and working. The
tear-downs at the end of the night would be consist of getting all of
the technical aspects of the show deconstructed and ready to be loaded
into the truck. Opening these rehearsals will give everyone an
opportunity to watch our actors as they get ready to perform the show,
and the tech staff as they get ready to take the set, costumes, props,
sound, and lighting on the road.

Please mark your calendars and plan to attend any of the following
rehearsals/performances at CCC West. There are no costs involved, and
light refreshments will be served.
