DOBAMA THEATRE Announces Auditions for:
THE LYONS by Nicky Silver, directed by Nathan Motta

Audition Dates/Times: 

Monday, Jan. 21, 7pm - 10 pm by appointment

Tuesday, Jan. 22, 7pm - 10 pm by appointment

 

AT: Dobama Theatre 2340 Lee Rd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44118

 

Play synopsis:  This quick-paced, banter-filled, funny play about a Jewish
family dealing with their lives at a major crossroads has many interesting
twists and turns.

 

Ben Lyons is in a hospital where he is dying from cancer. His family gathers
around him. They are his wife, Rita, and grown children, Curtis Lyons and
Lisa Lyons. Also present is his nurse. Ben is no longer constrained by
manners and says whatever he wishes, including expletives. Rita, trapped in
a 40-year loveless marriage, now thinks of the future without Ben and plans
to redecorate. Lisa is an alcoholic, who has left an abusive marriage;
Curtis, homosexual, has had little to do with his father, who is homophobic.
In a getaway from the hospital, Curtis looks at an apartment with the help
of an actor moonlighting as a real estate agent. 

 

Characters:  Three men. Three women.

 

BEN LYONS, 70's, a dying man. Although he is at the end of his life, he is
not without energy.                        

RITA, 60-70, his wife.

LISA, late 30s, their daughter                                

CURTIS, 30s, their son.

A NURSE, 40s                                 

BRIAN, 27-30, a very attractive real estate broker.

 

Production dates: April 19, 2013 to May 12, 2013. Preview date: April 18,
2013. Rehearsals begin March 23, 2013.


Audition:  Sides will be sent via email upon scheduling an audition.

AEA contracts:  There are 1-2 AEA Contracts available for these productions.
(AEA contracts are based on the Special Appearance Agreement).  Non-AEA
Contracts will pay $450 each.
