[NEohioPAL] Casting Call and paying for the privilege....

I concur with Mary Faktor about paying for the “privilege” of attending casting calls, whether they are “exclusive” to the agency or not. It has appeared, in the past, that the exclusive casting calls with this agency were for friends of the agency were doing zero budget projects for which the payment was lunch and, maybe, a copy of the finished project (if ever completed). And for this you pay a yearly fee? Really? If I am wrong, I would love to see some proof of their validity. In communication with this agency in the past, when I asked them about the fact that SAG and legitimate casting agencies DO NOT ask for money up front, as referenced here:

That is from the SAG-AFTRA website. Ergo, if they are asking for any money, at all, to be considered for a part, it is a SCAM! I started up a conversation quite a while back with one of the principles in this company, and when I pointed out the rules from SAG-AFTRA, I was basically told to mind my own business, and that I would receive no more responses from them in regard to this matter.

I have been making a living in the motion picture business for over 20 years, 15 of those in L.A., and it infuriates me that there are leeches and bottom dwelling feeders that try to make a living off the dreams of people who want to pursue their dreams legitimately. An agency should be making their money off fees charged to production for services rendered, NOT off the people they represent.
