Summary:
Matthew Cuthbert and his sister, Marilla, live at Green Gables. They agree to adopt a boy to help aging Matthew with the farm, but they get Anne by mistake! This new dramatization captures the charm and excitement of L.M. Montgomery’s enduring classic of one of literature’s most unforgettable characters. Come adopt Anne’s whimsical ways! This play takes place in the early 1900s so you will need to read with very proper, formal diction. Manners are of an essence during this time and you need to show that with your mannerisms and especially in your facial expressions. The setting is in Avonlea and other locations on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

MALE CHARACTERS:

Matthew Cuthbert (early 60s, Anne’s foster father, brother of Marilla, has a very kind and patient heart)
Mr. Phillips (schoolteacher, with special attention to student, Prissy)
Gilbert Blythe (the wealthiest and smartest boy in town, annoying to Anne…)
Charlie Sloane (classmate of Anne's, fancies Anne)
Stationmaster
Reverend Bentley
Jerry Buote (the Cuthbert’s hired hand for their farm)
Jimmy Glover (classmate of Anne)
Reverend Allan
President of Queen’s Academy
Mr. Sadler (land-buyer)
