Denise “The Voice” Russell to perform at Kent State University at Stark



Kent State University at Stark’s LGBTQ Faculty Committee and SPECTRUM, the student LGBTQ organization, will host nationally known female impersonator Denise “The Voice” Russell as she presents My Life Under The Lavender Lights on Thursday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m. in Main Hall Auditorium, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. The event, which will include a live performance, followed by a discussion with questions from the audience, is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. Mature audiences only, please.



Denise Russell is an entertainer from Northern Ohio who is known for her live vocal comedy and impersonations. With more than 30 years of experience, she is the only female impersonator to have performed in Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. She was an emcee for the Cowboys LaCage, was on cast at the Parliament House in Orlando and worked in casinos in New Orleans, Atlantic City, San Diego, Lake Tahoe, Albuquerque and Biloxi.



A former national title holder, Denise has earned numerous pageant accomplishments, including Miss Continental Plus 1992, Miss Gay USofA @ Large 1990 and Miss Pittsburgh Big Beautiful Woman 1989. In 2009, she released her CD, The Best of Denise Russell. She is currently an emcee at the Jewel Box Revue in Canyonville, Ore.
