Hard to believe that March is almost over! The end of the semester is fast approaching and there is less than 2 weeks for the application deadline for our High School Camps and less than 2 months for our Middle School Camps.

If you know of a teenager or child that would enjoy a week filled with music and fun please be sure to send in an application ASAP. Last year most of our camps had wait lists. This year the camps are filling up fast!

Listed below are our Summer Music Programs offered at the Conservatory. Applications are available online. Feel free to give us a call with any questions at x2365.

PROGRAMS for students in GRADES 9 - 12:

NEW for 2013! BW CSI: Conservatory Summer Intensive<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/smp/csi/index.html> - Sunday, July 7 through Saturday, July 20, 2013
Serious high school musicians join together to investigate college music study while exploring careers in music. Students participate in a quality pre-college experience led by faculty including members of the Cleveland Orchestra, Cavani String Quartet and BW Conservatory faculty while visiting Cleveland's major arts centers.  CSI includes choir, orchestra and wind ensemble as well as multiple elective courses.  Participants may also choose to participate in the music theatre, chamber music, composition or keyboard specialized tracks.  Current juniors may add the APP: Audition Preparation Program as well.

Fifteen hand-chosen high school juniors will join Victoria Bussert, director of BW's nationally recognized Music Theatre program, for an intensive week of preparation for college music theatre auditions including: private voice lessons, daily workshop, monologue, and dance classes.

High school camps require an audition. Application deadline is April 1, 2013. Applications and audition information are available online.

SUMMER MUSIC CAMPS for students in GRADES 4 - 9:

Violin, viola, cello and bass students will have an opportunity to play in one of 5 orchestras, chamber music ensembles, and sectionals with other students from across the state, and beyond.

NEW 2013! - To meet the popular and growing demand for our Piano Camp, we will be offering two separate sessions of the same six-day camp!

Piano Camp B<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/smp/pianocamp/> - Saturday, June 22 through Thursday, June 27, 2013
Calling all piano students in grades 4 - 9 who have studied piano for at least 9 months!  Piano Camp students will receive four 20-minute private lessons and have daily supervised practice sessions.  In addition, piano students will participate in piano duet, music theory and music elective classes taught by BW Conservatory faculty.

Students who play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments are invited to join instrumentalists from across the state for a week of music and fun.  Band camp offers the opportunity to play in one of three bands, jazz ensemble, chamber music and sectionals.

Students who would like to enhance their singing, acting and movement skills should check out Music Theatre Camp!  Group classes, as well as music theatre workshops and master classes with guest artists will be a part of this fun-filled week.

All of the camps for students in grades 4 - 9 include daily social and recreational activities. Campers have the option to stay on campus or commute for the week. The application deadline is May 1, 2013. Applications are available online.

Let the world's top Wagner teachers, coaches and conductors help launch your career into the Wagnerian repertoire. Join renowned opera singers and teachers Jane Eaglen<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/people/voice/eaglen/> and Timothy Mussard<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/people/voice/mussard/>, much sought-after coach/conductors Eric Weimer and William Vendice, and guest master class artist Alan Held for eight days of intensive training. The curriculum includes private lessons, repertoire coaching, scene study, German language study, staging rehearsals, and master classes with final performances on Saturday, July 27. Mature singers who are exploring the Wagnerian repertoire are encouraged to submit audition materials.

NEW for 2013! Cabaret Intensive - Sunday, July 7 through Friday, July 12, 2013

In collaboration with PlayhouseSquare, BW is excited to announce the new Cabaret Intensive, an intensive week of training including: private voice lessons; daily workshop classes, master classes and performances.  Cabaret veterans and sought-after teachers Lora Workman and Charles Eversole lead participants through a week of self-exploration and development.  Joined by guest artists and world-renowned cabaret artists Liz Callaway and Alex Rybeck and voice faculty members from the BW Conservatory, the week will culminate in an evening of cabaret performances by all participants at PlayhouseSquare.

The Wagner Intensive and Cabaret Intensive require an audition. Applications and audition information are available online.

Institute for Music Teaching and Learning<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/profdevelopment/> - throughout June and August, 2013
Providing high-quality professional development for music educators in workshops coordinated with Ohio Standards and contextualized for the music educator.  Offered in two-day, one-week, and two-week formats, 2013 courses include: Making Music Classes Meaningful for Students with Special Needs; Assessment in the Music Classroom; Google Tools for Music Education; The Gordon Institute for Music Learning, Early Childhood Music; Principles for Becoming a 21st Century Band Director; and Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Training, Levels I & II.


LESSONS and CLASSES:
