*CVLT's 84th Season is in full swing - and what a way to begin!*

A hearty thanks goes to all participants, audiences and sponsors in the
September 6 & 7 performances of /Murder By The Falls/, the Theatre's
major benefit program. We had record-breaking attendance, and WEWS
Channel 5's own Leon Bibb made a great addition to the illustrious crew
of actors under the direction of Greta Rothman. And for those who love a
good mystery, you still have time to catch *Postmortem*
<http://www.cvlt.org/84thSeason/postmortem.php?utm_source=monthlymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=oct2013>
on our main stage. There's never a dull moment on River Street!

*The Chagrin Falls Documentary Film Festival*
<http://chagrinfilmfest.org> opens its fourth year with its grand
opening at CVLT on October 2. The Festival runs through October 6 at
various venues in the Village. Each year, the Festival has been gaining
momentum with the quality and the breadth of the film offerings. Mary
Ann Ponce leads the organiztion with many volunteer helpers.

*Tim Conway* will be back at CVLT for a special book-signing sponsored
by the Fireside Book Shop <http://www.firesidebookshop.com> and
publisher Simon & Schuster on Friday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. Tim will
talk of some of the experiences outlined in his book, /What's So Funny/.
Fireside is handling the ticketing, and those who buy a book at Fireside
will receive two tickets to the event!

CVLT has a few upgrades to boast for the new season, including
attractive new chairs for the River Room donated by the Chagrin Falls
Studio Orchestra <http://chagrinfallsstudioorchestra.org> and Conductor
Steve Eva. The chairs were purchased from downtown's Hoffbrau House. Our
River Street Playhouse will benefit from brand new sound system and
other technical improvements thanks to an independent fundraiser run by
Andrew Rothman. Please see the list of donors
<http://www.cvlt.org/84thSeason/cannibal.php?utm_source=monthlymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=oct2013>
on our website, along with details on our first production at River
Street this season, Trey Parker's *Cannibal! The Musical*
<http://www.cvlt.org/84thSeason/cannibal.php?utm_source=monthlymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=oct2013>.

The Annual Meeting of the Theatre will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
October 15 in the River Room. Contributors to CVLT and Board and
Committee members are invited to attend.

"Sherlock Holmes," featuring William Gillette, made its Broadway debut
at the Garrick Theater on Nov. 6, 1899. It was an instant success, and
Gillette went on to present Sherlock Holmes approximately 1,300 times
(third in the historical stage-record), before American and English
audiences.

Now, in Ken Ludwig's mystery/thriller POSTMORTEM, the actor-manager,
playwright and heart-throb William Gillette has arranged a seance at his
Connecticut castle on the anniversary of another friend's suicide.
Believing it was not a suicide, but rather a murder, the scene is set
for Gillette's greatest role as he plans to solve the case himself in
the style of the detective he's played for over 30 years!

Don't miss this marvelous whodunit, filled with jealousy, revenge, love,
comedy, and even a bit of parody.

Before creating THE BOOK OF MORMON and SOUTH PARK with his partner Matt
Stone, Trey Parker filmed CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL, a dark and absurd indie
comedy. Based on the true story of a group of Gold Rush miners who got
lost in the Rocky Mountains, Parker's film featured original songs that
pay homage to Rogers & Hammerstein's /Oklahoma!/

Don't miss this CVLT-exclusive stage adaptation of the film at our River
Street Playhouse - a rare treat for fans of Parker's no-holds-barred humor!

Embrace uncertainty using the tools of improvisation: agreement,
spontaneity, listening, and character. Rediscover the art of play,
explore the fun of failure, and silence the voice of judgment in your
head! Actors will improve their ability to make bold choices, develop
characters on the fly, use their bodies effectively, listen deeply, and
form connections with emotional authenticity. Students will receive
personalized feedback to encourage development on both a professional
and personal level. Open to adults and older teens. Previous stage
experience is desirable but not required.

Course Instructor Tracy Cubbal has been a fixture of the Cleveland
improv scene since 2005. She has studied at the Annoyance, iO, and
Second City in Chicago and performed at venues in Cleveland, Columbus,
Chicago, and New York. Tracy performs with Point of No Return Improv in
Cuyahoga Falls and with Angry Ladies of Improv. She hosts Cleveland's
weekly open improv jam.

The annual Halloween production of *Ghosts, Goblins and Gobbledygook* is
returning to Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's Main Stage on Saturday and
Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20! This show is intended for little ones ages 3-8.

Kids will watch as "Queenie" and the puppet "Mousie" will present a
fairy tale, our Youth Theatre will present short Halloween 'playlets',
there will be a "Skeleton Dance", and CVLT's own Edmond Wolff will play
the guitar and sing Halloween songs.

Our usual villain "The Greedy Pumpkin" is back again to taunt the kids,
but "Wanda, the Good Witch" will be there to save the day. As always,
there will be a costume parade for kids on the stage (parents, bring
your cameras!), Halloween treats for everyone, and prizes from the
Pocket of "The Pocket Lady"!
