CVLT to present Charles Dickens and David Sedaris for Christmas

CHAGRIN FALLS, OH - Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's Main Stage and River
Street Playhouse stages often present simultaneous and wildly different
material. This Christmas is no exception, as the Main Stage presents the
family-friendly A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE MUSICAL while the River Street
presents the decidedly darker THE SANTALAND DIARIES / SEASON'S GREETINGS
monologues.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE MUSICAL, under the direction of Michael Rogan
with musical director John Krol and choreographer Jen Justice, tells the
classic Dickens tale through the music of Alan Menken /(Little Mermaid,
Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors)/, lyricist/writer
Lynn Ahrens, and writer Mike Ockrent. This award-winning trio focuses on
the message of redemption and personal renewal with this adaptation,
which has been produced many times since its 1994 debut, including a
2004 television version starring Kelsey Grammer.

CVLT's production reunites many of the actors and creative team behind
the theatre's past few holiday musicals. The cast of the production
includes over fifty performers, including multiple members of many area
families, with parents joining their children on stage. The group
includes the Apanasewicz family from Euclid, the Bernardo, Edwards, and
Firehammer families of Chagrin Falls, the Grossberg, Moughan, McCulley
and Sullivan families from Solon, the Sloop family of Mentor, the
Willis, White and Mulvaney families of Aurora, and the LItherlands of
Cleveland Heights.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE MUSICAL runs November 15 - December 15, with
performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 PM and Sundays 11/24,
12/1. and 12/15 at 2 PM. Tickets for all performances are $20 regular
admission, $16 for students and seniors. Discounts for groups of 10 or
more available, as well as dinner deals with select area restaurants.
Tickets for the December 1st matinee are available exclusively through
Friends of WomenSafe, a 501(c)3 non-profit with the sole mission of
generating unrestricted funds for WomenSafe. If you wish to attend this
performance, we encourage you to call (440) 285-3741 for tickets.

On the smaller River Street Playhouse stage next door, Yvonne E.
Pilarczyk directs actors Nick Hahn and Lisa Tarr in THE SANTALAND
DIARIES & SEASON'S GREETINGS, two darkly funny holiday monologues for
the adults from humorist David Sedaris. THE SANTALAND DIARIES is the
episodic memoir of 'Crumpet The Elf', a sarcastic out-of-work actor
working the holiday shift at Macy's. The story has become a
wildly-popular holiday favorite since its 1992 debut, filled with tales
of bratty children and their bratty parents, and the inner politics of
the shopping mall North Pole. The second act is SEASON'S GREETINGS, told
in the form of a dry-witted holiday letter to friends and family, in
which the mother in an otherwise average home describes how an
unexpected holiday arrival has turned their world upside down. These two
monologues are performed Friday and Saturday nights at 8 PM, November 22
- December 7. Tickets for all performances are $12.

Tickets for all CVLT productions can be purchased online at CVLT.org or
by phone at 440-247-8955 between 1-6 PM, Monday through Saturday.
Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is located at 40 River Street in historic
Chagrin Falls Village. CVLT is generously funded by Cuyahoga County
residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and supported by the Ohio
Arts Council.
