Synopsis:
“Compatibility Test” is a short film about a young barista named Dylan who falls in love with one of his regular customers. What he doesn’t know: that regular is his boss’s brother, Tyler. What he comes to find out: Tyler has a girlfriend. Given the ultimate opportunity to break up the less-than-happy couple or attempt to help the man rekindle his relationship, Dylan is forced to decide if his own feelings justify a selfish opportunity. Choosing to sacrifice his own happiness for the sake of salvaging Tyler’s, Dylan embarks on a mission to save Tyler’s failing romance. What results is change, and change is, as they say, undoubtedly good.

Character BIOS:
[Dylan][Gender: Male][Age: Early 20s]
Dylan is a clever, upbeat barista who is happily working his way through college. He is constantly thinking of others before himself. Aside from occasionally letting his high-energy put him into awkward situations at times, he’s a strong people person with an infectious, bubbly personality. He turns into a bit of a fumbling mess over Tyler every time they seem to cross paths, but he manages to shrug it off. Despite being very fond of Tyler, he considers the man’s needs before his own and makes it his mission to make Tyler happy before his semester ends and he returns to his hometown for the summer.
[Tyler][Gender: Male][Age: Mid to late 20s]
Tyler is a quiet sort. That’s not to say he’s a cruel person, but sometimes he loses his grip on reality. Fiercely loyal to his sister, Tyler winds up in his sister’s café every morning on his way to work. His relationship with his girlfriend is, in short, a hot mess but he seeks to change that. He remains somewhat blissfully unaware of Dylan’s attraction to him, but maintains a friendly relationship with him. Despite his somewhat cool, stand-offish personality, his actions speak of a much more caring soul beneath the façade.
[Liam][Gender: Male][Age: Early to Mid 20s]
Liam is Dylan’s co-worker at the café and a bit of a lazy sort. He mostly enjoys watching Dylan work twice as hard so he can lean on counters and harass him. Despite all the teasing, Liam is probably Dylan’s closest friend and plays a hand in getting Dylan and Tyler to cross paths more often. He’s a sarcastic person with a love of mischief and would love nothing more than to see Tyler and his girlfriend broken up.
[Haley][Gender: Female][Age: Late 20s, early 30s]
Haley is Tyler’s older sister. She is the owner of the small café that Dylan and Liam are employed at. Extremely protective of her brother and extraordinarily caring, Haley is the strongest supporter of breaking Tyler’s relationship up. She has been the one most aware of Tyler’s failing relationship and very seriously wants her brother to move on to something better. Upon learning about Dylan’s feelings from Liam, they team up to see to it that her employee spends quality time with her brother as often as possible.
