Join the Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble, Northeast Ohio's traditional Chinese orchestra, as it makes its Alliance, Ohio debut with a performance of Chinese music played on traditional instruments at the University of Mount Union's Presser Recital Hall this Sunday, March 30, 2014.

The varied program will include festive percussion music, melodious teahouse music, meditative solo pieces, and even a couple of pieces about horses (in celebration of the current Chinese Year of the Horse).  The ensemble will be joined by vocalist Sandra Emmeline for several beautiful Chinese folk songs.

The ensemble's instruments include dizi and xiao (bamboo flutes), xun (ocarina), sheng (mouth organ), erhu (fiddle), gaohu (Cantonese fiddle), yehu (coconut fiddle), dahu (bass fiddle), pipa (pear-shaped lute), yueqin (moon lute), gongs, drums, and other percussion instruments.

Due to ongoing construction at the site of the new Performing Arts Complex, no on-site parking is available behind Cope Music Hall. Alternate parking is available on Simpson and Vincent Streets and in the Eells Art Center parking lot, as well as in other campus parking lots.
