[NEohioPAL] AUDITIONS: Blossom Festival and Cleveland Orchestra Choruses

The Cleveland Orchestra announces auditions for adult chorus members for the 2014-2015 season. The Blossom Festival and Cleveland Orchestra Choruses are volunteer positions. Chorus members are not compensated.

Teachers! The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, in partnership with Baldwin Wallace University, provides opportunities for graduate credits for non-degree seeking students for participating chorus members.

Case students may also receive course credit for participating in the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus.


AUDITION DATES:
Wednesday, April 16 and Saturday, April 19 by appointment only
An accompanist will be provided

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS - BLOSSOM FESTIVAL CHORUS:
                Prepare one piece from the classical literature, approximately two minutes in length, in a foreign language.
Previous choral experience and sight reading skills are required.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS - CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA CHORUS:
                Prepare two pieces from the classical literature, each approximately two minutes in length.
At least one selection must be in a foreign language.
Previous choral experience and sight reading skills are required.

BLOSSOM FESTIVAL CHORUS 2014 SUMMER SEASON:
CONCERT: August 15, 2014, repertoire TBA
CONCERT:  August 23, 2014, Carmina Burana
Tentative Rehearsal Dates:  July 28, 29, 30, August 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 21
Blossom Festival Chorus concerts and rehearsals typically take place at Blossom Music Center, Severance Hall, and Fairmount Temple in Beachwood.

CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA CHORUS 2014-2015 SEASON:
The COC season will begin in late August and end in May.  Rehearsals are held every Monday evening, with many additional Sundays in the fall, and evening rehearsals on concert weeks. Concert highlights of the 14-15 season include Bach's Mass in B minor, Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust, Brahms's Schicksalslied ("Song of Destiny"), and Ravel's complete Daphnis and Chloé. The COC will also travel to Miami to perform Orff's Carmina Burana and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms with The Cleveland Orchestra. Cleveland Orchestra Chorus concerts and rehearsals typically take place at Severance Hall and Fairmount Temple in Beachwood.
